BigAl2526 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Buffalo will be getting Jackson and Hoecht back next season, but both will be question marks. With Jackson it is both a question of health (his history of multiple injuries) and his ability to transition to the pro game. With Hoecht it is a question of the time it will take to rehab from a ruptured Achilles tendon. Bosa and Epenesa will be free agents. I'd love for Buffalo to re-sign Bosa, but that will depend on Bosa's asking price and cap management. Epenesa is a useful roster member. I'm guessing he'll want a healthy pay raise in his next contract. I'm not sure how much of a pay raise his play deserves given Buffalo's tight cap. Only Rousseau and Solomon are both healthy and under contract after the season. Buffalo pretty much has to add a defensive end in the off season, whether via draft or free agency, if not more than one. The problem is it will be just about impossible to add one that is elite. An elite player in free agency takes more money than Buffalo is likely to allocate to the position. The upcoming draft doesn't seem to have a lot in the way of high end bendy and quick defensive ends. There are more guys that play with power, but there aren't many Joey Bosas. There are more like Jackson whose skillset may or may not translate, but they aren't going to be elite. Edited 44 minutes ago by BigAl2526 1 Quote

This board complains this team doesn’t have freak athletes but then the Bills draft one who doesn’t perform his rookie year and it’s a waste. The Bills going into the draft had the luxury of being fairly set at DE for 2025. Bosa/AJE /Groot and Hoecht were 4 capable starting caliber DE’s the Bills could take a chance to develop a guy for a year who has high upside and athleticism. It sucks he got hurt but him and Walker were the risky picks this team needs to keep making esp after round 1-2 when prospects are usually flawed heavily looks like Tarzan. plays like Jane. Quote
DapperCam Posted 50 minutes ago Posted 50 minutes ago This guy was supposed to be a raw "high ceiling" development pick anyway, but it does hurt he's missing the chance to get real game experience his rookie year. Hopefully next year he hits his stride. It is pretty rare to pick up a day 1 good starting EDGE in the 3rd round, so I didn't hate the pick in a vacuum (although I wanted a WR or Safety there). Quote

You must have a great eye for talent to be able to judge a rookie after 30 defensive snaps with the Bills. I’m not that good, so I’ll just wait to see how he does next year. The point from @billsfan89 was our lack of elite athletes, so taking a shot at developing one doesn’t seem like a terrible idea. If he was ready to immediately perform at a higher level, he would have been drafted much sooner. Let’s give him some time and see how it goes. Quote
