Our defense has literally kept us from a championship because they don’t show up in big games and we get gashed by good running backs. How long until McDermott is called to the carpet and held accountable? Oh that’s right he won’t because his buddy is the GM and the owner doesn’t have a friggin clue about football. We are wasting a once in a lifetime QB’s window with bull crap defense with a scheme the current players cannot run. it is so frustrating to watch this shyt every $&@!ing year. True somewhat. But the last two playoff exits the D sucked all game, but made stops at the end, giving the Bills a chance to win. But the offense choked both times. So to me, D is overstated. I want an offense that can put together winning drives in the playoffs. Quote

To be honest I’d like for the crap to hit the fan. I’ve had enough of their GM/ Coach. We’ve had the best WB in the league the last 3 years and have zero to show for it. Quote

Right, it seems like they’ve been toying with their defensive looks and I don’t even think McD or Babich knows how it’s supposed to work, let alone the actual players. My bet is McD pulls back on some of the more exotic stuff they’ve been trying to introduce and goes back to more vanilla coming out of the bye. 22 hours ago, DapperCam said: Does everybody here use the wrong spelling of "complementary" in "complementary football" on purpose? Is it some kind of inside joke? If you hadn’t noticed, grammar isn’t the strength of the average poster here 😃 Quote

WGR: Morning show - We won’t talk about it because the owner isnt going to fire them anyway Sal show - Condescendingly, “well who you going to replace him with!” Pompously, “everyone just wants to fire the coach.” Afternoon show - Literal meltdowns this week by Bulldog screaming “WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT FIRING THE COACH!!!!!!” I have to give credit to Beane and McD because they do have local media/podcasters totally inline and controlled. Imagine what WFAN would have done if Beane went on their station and pulled his little WR stunt. Imagine if McD went on a weekly radio hit in Philly and said absolutely nothing. Just spewing boring coach word salad crap like “fundamentals, complimentary football” just saying “we will see?” to everything. Yeah they wouldn’t last long with the media here. I live in Giants/Jets country, and they absolutely hate Daboll and Joe Schoen Quote
JakeFrommStateFarm Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I don't need fancy stats to tell me that the Bills run defense is bad. I saw the Falcons game Quote
VW82 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) To me the part that is most concerning is previous years we'd get gashed by certain teams while in nickel, and it was always frustrating because McD/Frazier wouldn't make any adjustments until at least halftime. This year we're coming out in base defense sometimes with 7-8 guys in the box and we're getting gashed by everyone. This is a new problem even though it feels like an old one, and it's bad. Score as often and as fast as you can. In the 4th quarter go to complimentary football if the situation dictates. What are we even talking about here. The goal is to score more than the opposition. It’s not that complicated. Quote
OldNMBillsFan Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I believe you get what you pay for, and at the moment dollars are not being spent on the Defense. With the exception of 2020, the points allowed per game ranking was close to matching total defensive spending. At the moment the defense is not very good, but they made some important stops in the last 2 losses, the problem was the offense could not capitalize. 2020 The Bills were # 2 in spending on defense in the NFL, resulting in being #14 Total D allowing 349 yds a game. # 17 against the run, 119 yds a game. #13 against the pass 233 yards a game. Allowing 23.2 points a game, ranking #14 in the NFL 2021 The Bills were # 2 in spending on defense in the NFL, resulting in being #1 total D allowing 273 yards a game. #13 against the run,110 yards a game. #1 against the pass, 163 Yards a game. Allowing 18.3 points a game, ranking #1 in the NFL 2022 The Bills were # 6 in spending on defense in the NFL, resulting in being #6 total D allowing 319 Yards a game. #5 against the run, 105 yards a game, 315 against the pass, 214 yards a game. Allowing 19.1 points a game, ranking #4 in the NFL 2023 The Bills were # 2 in spending on defense in the NFL, resulting in being #9 Total D allowing 307 yards a game, #15 against the run, #7 against the pass, 197 yards a game. (Interesting note Von Miller ate 15 million or 13% of total defensive spending while only producing 1 solo tackle and 1 assisted tackle for the season.) Allowing 18.7 points a game, ranking #3 in the NFL 2024 The Bills were #18 in spending on defense in the NFL, resulting in being #17 total D, #12 against the run, #24 against the pass, 226 yards a game. Allowing 21.6 points a game, ranking #12 in the NFL 2025 the bills are #17 in spending on defense and are so far #15 in total D allowing 323 yards a game, #31 against the run, 156 yards a game, #2 against the pass, 167 yards a game. Allowing 22.8 points a game, ranking #17 in the NFL Conclusion.. you get what you pay for. Think about it, Knox is making 14.6 million this year (7 receptions for 73 yards, 1 TD so far), Bosa is making 12.6 million having 6 solo tackles, 8 assists, 4 FF, and 2 sacks. Is Knox contributing as much to the offense as Bosa is to the defense? I think not. Go Bills!!! Quote
