It hasn't been mentioned this year but its really looking like Jordan Addison could use a fresh start!

There were whispers last year about it after they paid Justin Jefferson. Hes target 1A if made available!!!

Dj Moore could be available 1B.

Olave 2A, Shaheed 2B.

Addison is the second coming of Diggs with regard to his game.

CB#2 is a huge issue. White cannot start. He was getting burned all night.

WR#1 is obvious. Olave in New Orleans. Maybe look at Brandon Cooks.

If we get Olave (Steelers want him too) we can boat race every team to the Lombardi.  Also, Cook needs to catch some passes.  Maybe not showing that until later.

I wish they looked at Pickens, cheap contract and didn't cost a lot.

I honestly didnt think White would even make the team let alone a guy getting 80%+ of the snaps.

The coach prefers guys who know his complex system, which makes me think there are no trade plans mid-year.

Addison is more well rounded guy, with untapped potential.  Hes ~$2.5M against cap this year prorated, as of today. We had interest in him the Kincaid year.  They cant afford to pay another WR.  2 years cost controlled left.  Season imploding.  They were possibly shopping him last year.  They gave solid resources to get Thielen back (LOL), they may be looking to recoup some of that and more for next year.  Apparently they've spent the most cash of any team on 2025 season.

They may not be ready to deal, but I think they willl be.  He should be target 1.1.  It's so perfect.  I'd absolutely be willing to give a 1st + something more reasonable

I don’t disagree with you, just think the bears would probably be open to a trade considering they have other options at WR.

id be happy with just a true #1. People talk about everybody eats but that didn’t work the first few games last season until we got Cooper, and whilst he didn’t get the hoped for numbers his sheer presence gave the opposition D something to worry about and often drew their #1 CB to cover him which freed up the space for others. We don’t have that this year, there is no fear factor for the opposition when they look at our receivers and it shows

The D line is supposed to get reinforcements after the bye. The secondary is supposed to get reinforcements after the two rookies return from injury.

Buffalo had Stephon Diggs, and the good NFL teams found a way to neutralize him, so one top wideout probably won't change anything except allow others to get single coverage and get open...maybe?

Pass rush or a top secondary are what keep opposing QBs from beating Buffalo, and currently, the Bills have neither.  I really like Tre White, but alas, I feel he might be done.

What one player could be obtained to put this team over the top? CB-S-WR-Edge? We don't even know if those two rookies returning from injuries will be worth a sh!t?

I say CB!

Shaheed!

Underwhelming Palmer/Samuel or that other guy from Saints 2 years ago type guy IMO.  Sure id try it if no other options presented, but really do NOT want half measures on a "projected" guy again.  Thats absolutely slaughtered us.

With that said, the ask shouldnt be too bananas or restrictive for future moves in off-season, so I could come around to it.   I like the player, but not sold he changes us enough this year.

At this point, and at his age, maybe Baltimore would deal D-Hop? Were competition with each other, but not this year, and hes rounded 3rd base of his career.  More of an established ready to go guy for this season than Shaheed

100%.  I know he mostly takes snaps in slot, but he could lineup outside opposite Keon sooooo nicely IMO

I know Greg Newsome has been mentioned as a trade possibility in Cleveland.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-trade-deadline-2025-buyers-sellers-candidates-rumors/

Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs: We're not so sure Jerry Jones is ready to part with yet another splashy defender in the wake of the Micah Parsons breakup, but Diggs is now in and out of the starting lineup as part of Dallas' porous secondary, and dealing him would clear tens of millions off the Cowboys' books from 2025-2028.

Browns CB Greg Newsome II: Cleveland boasts one of the NFL's stingiest defenses, and Newsome is a part of that, logging two pass breakups and two tackles for loss in the Browns' first four. Still, he's due to hit free agency after the season, and the Browns could arguably still use as much draft capital as they can get.

Huge fan of Addison. Guy was great at Pitt, not too bad after the transfer to USC. The times he’s filled in as the exclusive #1 when that monster on the other side has been out shows his true quality in the league.

Minny certainly are blessed!

What one area won that game for the Patriots? I'd say that Diggs had a great game, and the Buffalo secondary had no answer!

Diggs, 10 receptions for 146 yards, literally tormented the Buffalo secondary.

As for Buffalo's offense, Kincade had 6 receptions for 108 yards with 6 targets. He should have seen more targets, pure and simple. This alone might have changed the outcome.

Cook has 15 carries for 45 yards, a 33.3 YPC average. Ray Davis 2 carries for one yard...what happened to this guy?

Guy next to us last night said “you ever feel like we are playing with 10 men on defense…?”

Cant disagree with that lol

IMO theres a few moving parts here.  Just saying CB2 isnt totally fair.  You can add CB2 and get some improved play, but a safety can still slip up and let plays burn you.  That is to say; a defense is only as strong as it's weakest link... we could fix CB2, and the difference in weakness, and the new floor of the defense (between CB2 and S), is not that much improved.

At trade deadline, we arent and cant fix multiple positions, and thats what it'd take to shut down even a 31yr old Diggs.

We also have Hairston returning, and should get strong back.  Also, while Im sure to hear bellyaches, Dane Jackson is absolutely an upgrade over Tre White right now.

In summary, we have reinforcements and roster shuffling that can/will improve CB2 in-house already.  Jackson can fill in till Max is ready, and Id feel better.

Additionally, we have some pass rush and run help on the way back between Hoecht and Ogbonjuni.  These were not small offseason investments/afterthoughts.  They should be huge for us, and fits our plan.

To answer "What one area won that game for the Patriots?"  The easiest, simplest, most likely to have an effect move is a real #1 WR who can get open, and unlock the 50% of the field we dont use now (outsides and less importantly, but still relevant, deep part of field).  Offense does not face the same "as good as weakest link" dilemma as a defense.... even if it did, we are fully ready to go on offense, just needing a finishing touch.

Taylor Rapp and Cole Bishop are not as bad as Tre White looked out there. And even behind them, you have Cam Lewis and Demar Hamlin. Bishop is still learning and getting better.

The weakest area of that secondary in my view is ...Ingram and Strong are the backups, and that is worrisome to me.

Tre'Davious White's struggles: While Diggs beat multiple players, he reportedly had particular success against cornerback Tre'Davious White, whose coverage was described as poor.

Cole Bishop's missed tackle: Safety Cole Bishop was beaten on a crucial play when he missed a tackle on Diggs, allowing the receiver to turn a short pass into a 30-yard gain. This set up a Patriots touchdown that gave them a 20-10 lead in the fourth quarter.

The thing is, Bishop should get better, and that missed tackle should haunt him. Doubtful White will get better.

For those fantasizing as well about Addison. I was under impression he spent a slight edge in the slot more than outside.

Its closer to 75% outside, 25% slot from best i can tell. Its said here but I think these are usually behind a pay wall as I can never find it

(And what i found is too large to upload 🙄🙄🙄)
