With regards to keeping Kromer around for as long as possible, what's the risk of him being poached by some other team to be their OC?

Like I know it's pretty common for good coordinators to get HC gigs but their coordinator skills don't translate to HC success (aka the Peter Principle).  I'd assume the same is true for position coaches becoming coordinators, and I'm not sure if he'd even make a good OC.  But do we know that he has no desire to keep moving up the hierarchy and is set on being a career OL coach?

Probably low...more of a risk if his contract runs out and another team gives more money/better title like "Assistant HC" or something like that, but from all accounts he really likes it here.  Too hard to find a good OL Coach to let them go without the Bills doing everything in their power to keep them.  Most great OL coaches stay the entire time the coaching staff is together.

Prestige, title... ego... and then there's money.

I don't know if it applies to Kromer but lots of coaches would be just fine coaching a positional group and being paid well above scale... higher pay, lower responsibility, less headaches.

I hope that's the case with Kromer and that the Bills do what's necessary to keep him.

Interesting.

That doesn't jive with the PFF rankings.

Interesting - overall a pretty strong unit.

I feel like Brown has struggled a bit at RT this season and hoping he is not having back issues again.

The rest of the pressures I thought were coming up the middle between McGovern and Torrence, which seem more about exchanges and Torrence getting to the right spots and at the right time. Edwards I have seen put on skates or his backside a few times if he gets caught playing a bit high.

Surprised to see Van Pran Granger so low on the published depth chart as folks were pretty high on him, his ceiling, and his work ethic coming out of Georgia and I thought we would see him worked in to take more reps to back up center and guard. If they have a succession plan that involves promoting this kid I would think we would start to see more of him. We will see.

I guess he did see some action in mop-up duty against the Jets so maybe they are just taking it slow.

The Jaguars look pretty good too.  The Saints really aren't that bad in terms of protection.  The chart shows a bit of vulnerability from the left defensive end.  Maybe Greg Rousseau can make his presence known this week.

He was injured most of training camp and just came back so that probably has something to do with him coming along slowly.

So, wasn't Kromer already an OC in Chicago? The questions change once you acknowledge that and build from there? How DID his offense(s) perform? And DOES he want to get another crack at calling plays, or is he content designing and implementing HALF the Bills offense as run game coordinator?

It's not that I don't think svgp has talent

But I was one of the first people who was like pump the brakes on his long-term success as our future center

He still has the potential to be a good center in the league but I still would think a guy like Alec Anderson would beat him out in a head-to-head competition if they want to move him to center straight up

Center is a position that is typically groomed better for two or three years so he still has potential for sure.. he just needed to grow also as a football player

Unless McGovern is willing to take A team friendly deal it's probably going to be svgp versus Alec Anderson

KC %’s are the biggest shock to me.  If their OL blocks at a high level, they’re going to turn things around in a big way when then they get rice and worthy out there with brown and Thornton. Good pass blocking could make them really dangerous.

Absolutely. For a 3 time in a row AFC Champs, the talent is there. Theyre just not cohesive. Not doubting them until the final few weeks of the season.
