eball Posted September 10 Posted September 10 What a fantastic way for our young players to get a taste of “big boy” NFL football, playing against a co-Super Bowl favorite. Is there any game remaining on the schedule that will present as much of a challenge? I love the thought of those young D-linemen watching the film and seeing how Ed Oliver played. Joshua Palmer absolutely upgraded the WR room. He ran precise routes, was sure-handed, and seems to love being here. How about those TEs? 7 catches, 98 yards, and a tuddy (shoulda been two). I hate to complain about anything related to that offense, but the 2-point conversion attempts were ass. For everything that went right to enable that comeback, how about the horrible call that almost cost them the chance (ref spot on Josh’s slide that didn’t give him the 1st down, which was followed by a penalty and sack)? There’s no way to prove it, but I believe that Oliver’s crushing hit on Lamar on 3rd down impacted Harbaugh’s decision to punt. On the tipped TD to Coleman I’m pretty sure Josh was throwing to Shakir, not Knox, and if Knox doesn’t tip it we might have scored anyway. A Raven DB got to Shakir late. Cook running through Roquan Smith’s tackle attempt after catching that swing pass was fun to watch. Incredible hustle play by Wiggins to prevent the TD. If the rest of the season plays out like we hope, it’s hard to envision not seeing these guys again in January. 22 5 4 3 Quote

To be the best, ya gotta beat the best 2) I expected all of this and expect more 3) how Hawes hung on to that pass was impressive. His blocking is fantastic. Keep working on catching the ball 4) the high fade to Coleman IS our best 2pt play 5) Coleman being mugged on the 2pt try and nearly stripped of his jersey was egregious Defensive Holding 6) Completely agree. He was really hurt by that hit & I think his injury will be listed with the League 7) Ditto. Knox got in the way and nearly lost us the game. Josh just isn’t that inaccurate on these throws 8) he breaks that tackle and suddenly a WIDE open field! We caught them in a blitz I believe 9) February 7 Quote

I understand that it’s week 1 and the refs are still getting their ish together like the teams… but it was blatantly obvious with the jersey stretching. The only rational I had was that Hussey decided to keep the flags low like it was a playoff game. 🤷♂️ As for Oliver, the whole defense may not have shown up ready to rock, but Oliver was a problem for the Ravens. This defense has needed someone to step up in big moments. Oliver did several times in that game. Let’s hope he keeps this up. 3 6 Quote
bearstobills Posted September 10 Posted September 10 My thought on the Coleman tipped td, it seems that Knox purposely tipped it backward. He knew he couldn't catch it, so he guided it toward the back of the endzone. That being said, I bet you're right.....he was probably throwing to Shakir. 5 Quote
juno999 Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Allen was on fire in this game. He looked like he was in complete control of the offense and on top of his game. The ball spot on his slide was absolutely terrible. There was also a terrible spot of a dump off throw to Shakir deep in Bills territory. The second and third offensive series for the Bills was trash play calling. Just way too conservative and predictable. In games like these, need to have urgency on every possession. 1 3 3 Quote

It’s the new NFL PI calls. If the DB has good position, sees and is making a play for the ball they let a lot of handfighting go. Equal opportunity, and I like it even though it worked against us in this case. 4 Quote
DrBob806 Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Great win but I'd like to see some form of defense. The frenzy of "epic" or "instant classic" is over the top IMHO. 2 1 1 Quote
T.E. Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Great win but, as always, Allen is forced to shoulder too much of the load. Coaching and defense continue to be an anchor on this team. 2 1 1 2 Quote
Gregg Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I would say the Eagles will present the same type of challenge. Overall solid team. Barkley will probably run for 1,000 yards in this game alone. Good QB and receivers. The Bills will need at least 30 and probably more to come away with the win. 1 1 Quote

SoCal Deek Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I know it’s only Week One, but has anyone noticed that the Bills don’t play a team with a winning record until early November…after the bye. Quote
notpolian Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Do the 2 point plays have their own thread yet? Bad calls IMO. I don't see why we don't have some triple option type plays. Really stress the defense with a TE in the end zone, Allen rolling out, and a possibility of a pitch to a RB on the outside. Use some imaginative plays for high leverage all or nothing situations. 1 1 Quote

The planets aligned perfectly at the end for that comeback. Makes sense as they had a 99.3% shot of losing up until that point. I also wanted to point out how close the GW FG was to being blocked. They escaped this one very lucky with a W. 3 3 1 Quote
finn Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Thanks for the fresh thread. Upon reflection (and endless, happy viewings of the highlights), I'm even more impressed by Oliver. The big sack, the stuff of Henry, the huge hit on Lamar... He looked like Aaron Donald out there. And I agree about the tone this comeback sets for the team, both the rookies and veterans like Bosa and Palmer. Wow, could there be a better motivator to work even harder than a win like that? It must be electrifying. And talk about boosting resilience! Who is going to be giving up in the tough games ahead when the team is down in the fourth quarter? Quote

Even though its in Arrowhead this will still be a very tough game for the Chiefs. Throw in the fact that the division looks stronger and the days of them dominating the AFCW are probably over. That doesn't mean they can't win the division but for the 1st time in a long time they will be challenged for it. 1 1 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Just now, eball said: There’s no way to prove it, but I believe that Oliver’s crushing hit on Lamar on 3rd down impacted Harbaugh’s decision to punt Lamar mentioned to the Baltimore media that they would have gone for it on 4th down but "he was cramping". Whether it was really cramping, or hurting from that hit, or that hit caused the cramping... who knows, but I think it's pretty certain that hit prevented them going for it on 4th one way or the other. Great game by Ed. If he keeps this up we may be looking at a big extension this offseason instead of a restructure. Quote

If I were Harbaugh I would have gone for it. Last thing I would want to do is give the ball back to Allen who was on fire in the 4th quarter. Lucky for us Harbaugh punted and the rest is history. 3 1 Quote
