The "L" isn't that consequential.  But I was more encouraged by how they looked - old & slow. Chris Jones didn't seem effective for large portions of the night.  Their receiving corps isn't stellar to begin with, and now they might be without Rice & Worthy for awhile.  Chargers receivers were getting open pretty easily.

That's the most I have seen Mahomes have to carry that team.  Yesterday looked more like the average Bills/Allen game than the well-oiled machine we have come to expect out of KC.

The thread poster never said what you claim.

All they said is that if the Chargers can somehow win that division, it will make a KC matchup vs Buffalo in the playoffs "less likely".

Nothing about KC being done in week 1.

It's posts like yours that make people not want to bring up an opinion or add an interesting thought to the board.

If KC is in the playoffs and can win on the road…how are they less likely to not meet Buffalo in the AFCGG? Are you saying our Bills would lose before that potential matchup? I don’t think so.

My point was it’s week 1. Nothing can be taken too seriously after the 1st week. We can lose Sunday to the Ravens and it’ll be fine. If KC heads into OP with a losing record in week 9 then what OP is suggesting here would have more validity. It’s jumping the gun a bit here.

The more games you have to play, the lower the likelihood you make the AFCCG. He didn’t say it was impossible. He just said reduced likelihood. And he is right.

But either way, he did NOT say what you claimed.

Nor did he deserve to get bullied for giving an opinion.

That qualifies as bullying? Damn. I hope the OP isn’t as sensitive.

I don't know why you guys torture yourselves with this stuff. This team loses 1-2 games in stupid fashion every year that kills their chance at the 1 seed, and this year will be no different.

That is sad but very true.

Buffalo destroyed the Pats early one season, week one if I recall.  Brady threw four picks, including one Adams returned with all the glory and gracefulness of a bowling ball going down a flight of stairs.

...the Pats finished that season with a total of two losses and a Super Bowl ring.

It's one game.

I remember that - Bills won 31-0.  And it was mostly downhill from there for the Bills - who finished 6-10.  Last game of the year was at New England where the Pats won by the same 31-0 score.  Yes, the first game is often the most meaningless.  Especially now with the short preseason where many of the starters get so little playing time.

Unfortunately the last time KC lost in week one, at home against Detroit in 2023, they retained their Super Bowl crown defeating San Francisco in overtime - Super Bowl LVIII, the only Super Bowl I didn't watch by choice as an adult.

Detroit managing to blow their best chance to get to the Super Bowl in the Campbell era to date. KC going and winning on the road twice after the Wild Card at Arrowhead.

In the Andy Reid coached KC era they've only been soundly defeated in the postseason by the Buccaneers and the Eagles. Playing five Super Bowls in six years is amazing, painful and frustrating (for every non Chiefs fan).

Implications for the Bills? Focus on the Ravens and do your absolute best to get to 1-0 in the final stadium opener at our current home. There is no shame in losing to Baltimore if it does not happen and we have to believe that we can climb the mountain this year.

I don't think KC will panic and nobody will count them out yet there are chinks potentially appearing in the armour and there is a first time for everything. What I'd love is for an AFC team to comprehensively defeat them in the playoffs this year, ideally before the AFC Championship game.

Oh I thought claiming falsehoods was okay with you, so I decided to give it a try.

Not sure what you’re trying to pick here but it’s slightly amusing.

People get hung up on the receivers but the chiefs being abysmal at running the football is probably influencing this a lot more than a dropoff in wr talent.  You can pretty much play with the lightest box you want and still stop the run and get pressure on mahomes these days

Pacheco is as good as anyone they had back then…

The run blocking has been dreadful lately though…feels like they get so many favorable looks to run on and just can’t capitalize

i think Pacheco was about equally as ineffective as Kareem hunt last year but it could’ve been injury recovery related

Wouldn't be surprised if the Chiefs miss the playoffs all together.

I and others also think this could be a down year for KC. Do not be surprised when/if this happens.

No division and yes may miss the playoffs.  I know it sounds K-Ray-Z to some. But there are cracks/age etc in this team.  JMHO

I feel like I’m takin crazy pills on this one haha I’m not in the ‘chiefs are done’ camp at all but a divisional loss to a playoff caliber team playing an easier schedule than you is very consequential..  a loss to an nfc opponent in week 1 is way less consequential

Yea they’ve only lost convincingly a few times in the playoffs but their margin of victory has been razor thin too.  Them losing rest weeks/their opponents getting more because the chiefs are getting tied up in a divisional race down the stretch and are potentially losing a position or two in the seeding could’ve flipped some of those close wins into close losses

even the year they were the 3 seed and won the superbowl on the road most of the way they got rest in week 18 and could afford to give some banged up players time off because their division was such a joke.   the bills weren’t the 1 seed either and lost a ton of guys in the wildcard game.

It feels like people have adopted this ‘seeding/the regular season doesn’t matter cuz the chiefs won a superbowl as the 3 seed one time’ style of thinking and I don’t really agree with it personally.  They could certainly win it in spite of all that but everything gets much tougher

Let me just say that I started the thread to give opportunity for opinions to be expressed.  Of course, some of those opinions will be very different from mine, maybe even the opposite.  That does not bother me in the least.  It's why we have a message board.  Variety makes it interesting.  If someone were to try and make it personal, I'm not biting.  I control the way I conduct myself, I'm not going to worry about how anybody else does things.

I don't think this means a whole lot more than a loss for KC.

Having said that, and having seen only the highlights, the one thing that encouraged me was that KC's offense still doesn't look anything like it did three to six years ago. Still solid. Still dangerous and opportunistic. But not elite. One game is too early to say much, but if asked to take something from that one game, that's what I'm taking.

The thread asks for implications after one game.

The guy gave what he figured were the implications after one game. This is the ultimate in reasonable. Attacking him for posting his opinions about one game after one game, in this thread, is pretty wacky. It's what the thread asked for, what it's about.

I mean, yeah.

But you know who else loses 1 - 2 games in stupid fashion every year? Nearly everyone. The Chiefs did go 15-2 last year, but in the years before that, they lost six, three, five, two, four and four. Again, pretty much everyone loses a game or two in stupid fashion.

That's football.
