Yeah I recall CBS televised the U.S. Open all those years and didn't show 4pm games. Nowadays the NFL has become a monster and consumes all the other sports as a snack (as per ratings and ad revenue). I believe the Open is on ESPN/ABC. CBS is showing Lions at Packers Sunday at 4:25 so that will get many more eyeballs and interest than tennis. 1 Quote

In the same vein, I hate these Thursday (and now Friday!) games, plus the double header MNF games. The oversaturation dilutes the value of the product. 2 1 2 Quote

The oversaturation dilutes the value of the product. Not even Christmas is sacred any longer. From 72 through 88, due to the "longest game ever" between the Chiefs and Dolphins messing up a lot of Christmas dinners, the NFL totally avoided games on Christmas. As an aside, in spite of game going 5-1/2 quarters, the actual run time was just over 3 hours 20 minutes. And the clock stopped on every out of bounds and incomplete pass. Commercials ran when there was a break in the action, they didn't break the action to run commercials. From 1989 to 2019, there were games on Christmas if it fell on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. Since 2020, Christmas day games are the norm. 1 1 Quote

Miyagi-Do Karate Posted September 5 Posted September 5 This felt like a bad Bills loss. She really had it. Had a ton of break chances in that third set, and couldn’t convert. Feel awful for her. 2 Quote

BillsPride12 Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Heartbreaking loss but a very entertaining match. Felt like Jessie threw everything she could at her but Sabalenka is just a beast. 2 Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I am rooting hard now for Osaka. Would love to see her advance and then knock off the Beast. Quote

I've seen some tennis in passing, but when Jessica is playing, I'm watching from start-to-finish. Really hoping she gets that Grand Slam victory, even if it's in doubles. Quote

Miyagi-Do Karate Posted September 7 Posted September 7 So I just saw that Alcarez won. Too Bad I didn’t see any of it because of the competing NFL Games. Quote
