MPL Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Is today still considered NOW? or can we move on from this since they haven't cut him? Quote
extrahammer Posted August 19 Posted August 19 The bigger issue here is Cole Bishop and how much we wasted a 2nd round pick on him. At some point the injuries become a concern, Bishop is rarely available meanwhile Hamlin came back from dying on the field and has played like a backup safety, which is what he is. He's been more reliable than Bishop and I'd rather us retain something we can rely on versus something we hope can develop into something to rely on. 1 Quote
947 Posted August 19 Posted August 19 I'm tired of hearing how well Hamlin knows the system & gets to the right spot. What good is that if he isn't athletic enough to make the play? Watch the play of the Bears long TD & tell me Hamlin standing like a statue while the streaking WR comes his way, then falling 4ft away & flailing at his feet isn't one of the worst defensive displays you've ever seen. This is the same garbage that was said about Edmunds. "He's always in the right spot & does things we don't see like deterring QBs from throwing into his zone..." OK, sure 6 Quote

Damar missed the tackle that lead to the TD on the same play. Seems no one wants to point that out. Gotta give Bishop more time on the field. Damar sits back and waits for everything to come to him and still there is a 50\50 chance he misses the play. Bishop attacks the play, that timing takes time to learn and it can’t be done on the bench or the film room. Not saying hes gonna get it but he needs more time on the field as of now. You have to earn more time on the field. You don't just put a player out there just because he's a 2nd round pick. McDermott plays a lot young guys, he's basically giving him the spot and Bishop isn't holding onto it. Quote

Sure, Hamlin missed the tackle, but Bishop misplayed his assignment. 3 guys made mistakes on the play that all contributed to the long TD. Buffalo Joe probably the most crucial one 1 1 Quote

We all will have a special place for Hamlin but this is about winning a Super Bowl. Good point. I don’t know. Just my thinking, but did they get him for the least amount of money possible? That’s probably why. Did they know no one is touching him, or that he agreed to not sign elsewhere, and came back for a prearranged deal that was as team friendly as possible? I mean, Hamlin’s perspective must be- They saved my life.. I’ll do what it takes to stay on. Quote
Thrivefourfive Posted August 21 Posted August 21 (edited) I know this.. McDermott needs Hamlin right now (has he been cut..? haven’t checked today 😂). He’s going to start the season with Rapp as his most experienced safety. We know Coach likes his guys to be well versed. Hamlin is probably the Safety2 of the entire group, with Rapp being S1. What a mess. No talent + no experience. Not good on that front OBD Edited August 21 by Thrivefourfive Quote

What a mess. No talent + no experience. Not good on that front OBD Mmm watch this video. Cole, as long as he has no setback from injury between now and Sept 7, is going to start. I listened to Babich's interview and what they said is true. Babich said safeties need to be able to play in space and this is the biggest weakness of Hamlin. Can Bishop play in space? We don't know. But we know he has speed to do it. The Bills are going to roll the dice on this one because the stats Dan quoted is true: the Bills disguise since Poyer and Hyde has dropped from the top to the bottom of the league due to our safeties physical traits. 1 Quote

For sure. This thread is about him being cut. I’m not saying they need him to start. They need his warm (🙏) body. But I love how the image of the vid is portraying a Cole Bishop that’s been on par with Coleman’s promising camp and Benford’s excellency. That’s interesting. Cause Bishop is a HUGE ? mark Quote

He is usually a textbook tackler in a situation like that. Sure, he lacks speed and coverage ability— But usually when he is in position to tackle, he makes it. Just a bad whiff. Quote
