I think part of the consideration is how much money Bass has against the cap he did just sign a extension and did much better last year so it would be a up hill battle for the new kicker to win the job over Bass .

If I'm reading it right the Bills would take a bigger dead cap hit ($5.97M) then they would save in cap savings ($4.67M) if the cut him. 

 

So, yes...unless Bass is far more injured then they let on he will be the kicker this year. Maybe Davis gets a PS invite or goes on the tryout circuit for the other 31 teams if he does well.

I think Bass had a bad day when the Bills practiced on a rainy windy day, but otherwise, he's been OK, if not stellar.

Oh okay I am not as into all that is going on as far as injuries and didn't know Bass was injured and hopefully it's nothing bad and he can get back soon . Thanks of the info ...

      Just a FYI while topic is kicking.  Did you guys see that the jags fg kicker hit a fg from 70 yards last night right as the first half was ending !?  Yep, 70 yards with a little to spare.  The team and broadcasters were all pretty excited and the young kicker was mobbed.  It was pretty cool to see , but obviously won’t count as the record since it was preseason.  But it was hot , heavy humidity ( past week it has been close to 100 degrees daily with it feeling like it’s 112 according to AccuWeather.  I’ve lived here since 1985 and have never experienced this type of prolonged heatwave ).  So the kick was at sea level , not much wind, heavy humidity, and was just a perfect kick.  Very cool to at least see it happen.  Wil be interesting to see how his season goes 

 

     In another quick topic, Hunter made his debut as a two way player.  He had 2 receptions for two yards on a couple of quick slants; on d he came up quickly on a run play , slipped going for the tackle and missed  as the rb ran for a first down.  That was his total contribution for the night.   This franchise has just been abysmal under Kahn and giving up all the picks they did for Hunter just seems like another crazy move to me that this owner has become known for. Time will tell, Hunter may have some success , but this isn’t Colorado , it’s the NFL , and IMO , only a franchise qb is worth that much draft capital. Lawerence still looks like a miss here as he’s mostly focused on flipping his hair rather than being consistently accurate.  The new gm looks like a teenager and I bet Lawrence will eventually succeed in a new location. 
 

     Sure would be nice to have a kicker hitting from 70 rather than seeing if your RB can hit an xp!   😂

He's been out with "pelvic soreness" which could be any number of things.  What I know is he's going to have to kick before week 1 and look back to normal. I also suspect we will carry a kicker on the PS even if Bass is ready for week 1.

You're apparently the only person on earth who didn't know that Bass was suffering from a pelvic injury. Of course the posters here have been very respectful, tasteful, and restrained on the subject.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

 

Seriously though, I agree about the Travis Hunter trade. IMO, his impact as a WR will be limited by his defensive snaps and visa-versa.

 

Between playing the two positions there's just too much running involved. If he divides snaps between the two positions his contribution will be limited IMO. If they try to play him more snaps than a "normal player" I think he'll be open to injury and fatigue.

 

I wouldn't have made that trade if I were Jacksonville.

Well I have other things to keep me busy rather than spending the majority of my time on a computer and if I wasn't on the road living in hotel rooms it would be even less but to curve my boredom I get on here much more than I would care to so I'll just depend on you all that spend much more time here than I do to find out these things ... Got you, I'm getting cabin fever I been on the road t long sorry if I'm a little testy I can't wait to get out of this bus and stay home for a minute but it's our busy time of year and we have a shortage of drivers so we are out for long periods of time which adds to my sensitive nature, Sorry brother I may need a drink 🤣
