Burrow was great. Is he still?

He led the league in passing yards and passing TDs. He had the best passer rating of his career. He’s third in MVP odds next year. I think it’s safe to say he’s still great.

Do you think Sean McDermott is better coaching against Andy Reid in the playoffs than he was in 2021?

😂😂i suppose in this fantasy world McDermott is the only one who's improving and everyone else is just sitting around on their thumbs

when in reality (and by all available postseason evidence submitted thus far) he would have to improve at a significantly higher rate than his peers just to get to their level at any given point! by that time allen's retired and the window is gone

That’s a very poor argument, IMO. It also shows your true leanings, and that’s just fine. Those were players with limited physical and/or processing skills vs an exceptionally winning head coach at a relatively young age who has shown a willingness to adapt as evidenced by recent coaching and player acquisitions.

But, other than that…

True leanings?

I already said I love McD. And I really wish he had beaten KC once in the postseason because I think he’d have a Super Bowl and this conversation would never even happen.

just because you give a guy time to ostensibly improve, doesn’t mean it’s going to matter.

We have given Sean 5 years to get better against KC in the playoffs. I’m not sure he should get a sixth crack at it, if he can’t get better enough to win the game. Does that make me some kind of hater?

There was zero luck in that HOME divisional game,  we got destroyed

The Bengals caught Josh the night after he had it out with his long time girl after he shtupped some waitress. No luck there. 😂

I apologize if I over-reached, but it gets tiring. I think McD is learning and evolving. I also think it’s funny how a guy with one ring over a decade or two gets the monkey is off his back to a great degree.

He’s up against instant HOF guys at HC and QB, it’s not easy.

Defense got no pressure against Burrow with multiple starting offense linemen out

It was easy for Philly. KC isnt some unstoppable rebel force.

Duh, but I’m not going to explain all of sports now. It’s not easy to be the last one standing. That is true every year in every sport. You’d think we’d be due by noŵ, and to be so close makes people crazy. I get it.

It’s definitely not easy, and I can see how it’s tiring.

imo, it’s only gonna get worse and crescendo more until the monkey IS off his back.

No one was talking about firing McD 4ish years ago.

That’s not true, there is always a contingent.

I’ll take McD over Tomlin or Harbaugh. Having a ring in your past isn’t everything.

Oh I didn’t mean that, I meant internally with Josh Allen.

you are seeing it in the media more and more. A topic on McD’s job security would’ve been absurd in 2020-2021. Another heartbreaking Chiefs playoff loss and it’s gonna be the season storyline, whether he’s really on the hot seat or not.

13 seconds concluded his 4th year and that is when the rumblings of him not being the guy started. Those rumblings have only gotten louder and will continue to do so until we make the Super Bowl.

Correct.

i went back to 2021 and there was a fan poll of firing McD. 74% of TBDers said McD gets 2022 and beyond no matter what. Right after 13 seconds.

Fastforward a few seasons and there’s a poll in the middle of 2023 where 75% of fans wanted McD gone by 2024.

Obviously, the 2023 Bills got turned around and the 2024 Bills were much better, (so I’m not sure if 75% of folks want him fired today) but there’s no way 74% feel the same way they did in 2022.

it will only continue to worsen.

lol it's not 'just bad luck'

mcdermott literally GAVE MAHOMES to Andy Reid! he's the architect of his own demise! if it happened to any other team it would be absolutely hilarious

I don't totally agree with this as not many other "air raid" QBs have been successful at the NFL level. At that time Buffalo was in need of a CB and so many thought that Mahomes was simply a 'system" QB.

"In this draft analyst’s opinion, I would grade Mahomes as a second-round pick. That is the same grade the NFL draft advisory board gave him. A general manger of a NFC team said they had a fourth-round grade on Mahomes, but felt he had some tools to work with. That same team has a third- to fourth-round grade on Deshaun Watson, a fifth-round grade on Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya, and a second-round grade on Mitch Trubisky. That team is a tough grader, overall. Another NFC team said they had Mahomes low – into Day 3 – and weren’t hot on him as a prospect, but they also have a young franchise quarterback, so they aren’t interested in quarterbacks until the late rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Sources from one AFC team said they had a second-round grade on Mahomes and viewed him similarly to Derek Carr coming out of Fresno State. They are very high on Mahomes and think he could become a hot prospect in the leadup to the draft. The scouting director of another AFC team said they liked Mahomes. They graded him in the third round, but don’t think he is as good of a prospect as Carr. Another AFC team said they also had a second-day grade on Mahomes."

It goes on and on about Mahomes going 10th in the 2017 NFL draft and the second QB taken behind Mitch Trubisky drafted by Chicago #2 overall. So many scouts missed on this prospect. If drafted today he would be the first overall ahead of Miles Garrett.

Mahomes sat for an entire season behind starting KC QB Alex Smith as Andy Reid groomed and tutored the young player. Also, its not just the QB as Andy Reid went to the playoffs with Alex Smith four out of his first five seasons at KC starting from his first year in KC in 2013.  Reid has 26 years of being an NFL HC and is known to be an offensive genius.

He didn’t have to take Mahomes to not give him to Andy Reid.
