Hire a former O or D coordinator to work with the opposing side and help prep the unit while assisting with the scout team they’re going against. It’s not the worst idea if ownership has the cash. Plus, LaFluer gives buddies - like Salah - soft landings. Yeah, this. Defenses can benefit from an offensive mind at the table giving another POV. Also vice versa. He isn't as bad as many on here want to believe. He's also not one of the best in the league. But as an overall tactic, a hiring of this type can make a lot of sense if handled right. 2 1 2 Quote

Hackett basically has a job because his dad was Paul Hackett. Guys like steve belichick, Bobby April Jr., Kyle Shannan, Sean mcvay— all got into the NFL because of their dads. Some of them have proven they belong— but it sure helps when dad makes a few calls to get you onto an NFL coaching staff when you are 22 years old. Wes Phillips, the Ryan boys, the Shula boys, Nolan, Mora, Schottenheimer... the list is endless... 1 2 Quote

I would recruit a top ranked Madden player over Hackett at this point in his career. Edit: Actually, at ANY point in his career. Edited July 25 by ChronicAndKnuckles 3 Quote
Mango Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Hey guys, has anybody made a joke about how Hacketts offenses are so bad that they make defenses look good so that's why he switched? 3 Quote

Oh no, the current coaching staff brought in a guy as a "consultant" (prestigious!)... one that theyre familiar with/have previous work history together. Dude cant coach an offense, but hes well-liked by the guys hes coached. Easy transition for both parties, that helps both sides out. Its a role that really only makes sense to hire a guy whos coached in the NFL before, and the only people accepting the job are coming from a pool of current unemployed guys. Its a nothing-burger 1 Quote

LaFleur has an OC and he doesn’t want to bad PR of bringing Hackett on the offensive after his disastrous stints since leaving Green Bay. So he hires him to coach offense under the guises “defense” to rebuild his reputation. 1 Quote
