The question is whether he chose to resign rather than fight to maintain his position.

Considering his track record I find it very hard to believe that he's simply doing the honorable thing.

The only surprise is that he didn't try wait it out until his contract expires next year.  The NFLPA really needs to do a better job when they choose their executive director.  Based on their last two hires it appears Roger Goodell was the head of the search committees.

I've never heard of the guy myself but from the way it's worded (my leadership has become a distraction) it sounds like there was a bit of head butting going down.

A little bit more than head butting

“Former NFL Players Association leader Lloyd Howell Jr. resigned after an outside investigator hired by the union received documents this week showing Howell charged the union for two visits to strip clubs, including a $738.82 car service that took him from the airport to one of the clubs”

I see nothing wrong with this. He was being responsible by not drinking, tipping skanks, and driving.

More players should learn from this!

Good Lord.  I'm sure this breach was the tipping point, but how in the world do you put yourself in that position.  It's like Tiger leaving voicemails for that waitress. Some people are without a clue as to not to leave an electronic footprint.

For the click averse, there are MANY other sordid details, such as:

"During this year's NFLPA summit on Feb. 21, Howell accompanied the employees to the Magic City strip club for an outing that incurred $2,426 in charges including cash withdrawals, ranging from $200 to $525, from a club ATM, sources and documents show. They used two "VIP rooms."

Sounds like lap dances to me...

The linked article also touches on the fact that in his previous professional position, he committed a very similar breach of professional protocol.

AC, as the owner of a high end taxi service, I imagine you're not the least bit shocked by these allegations.
