Anyone ever make one? Have some leftover wood and time on my hands. Have a plan of sorts, but figured I'd reach out. Pretty sure the wood is maple. Got it from a guy that lives by Lewiston that owns a sawmill.

Thanks.  Go Bills

I’ve made charcuterie boards in the sense of cutting up assorted meats, cheeses, and olives and displaying them on a serving dish. I also did some high school wood shop projects to made decorative cutting boards, but I’ve never combined the two.

You’ll need a jointer, planer, clamps, wood glue, orbital sander (80, 120 and 220 grit discs), food grade oil. I’d suggest finding some pieces of cherry or oak to give it some character/color.

So, woodworking, not food.  I’m usually all over the food stuff.

We have friends who have a daughter really into the food part in a big way with amazing presentations. She taught my wife some stuff, then they gave her this super cool board. It’s got shelves that pull out and expose your various knives, etc. I didn’t know it could get that elaborate!

Good luck!

my suggestion is to Google search pictures of charcuteries

plan how many people you are serving to buy sufficient quantity of items

a standard basic one I make often includes basic healthy foods plus assorted crackers

okay here goes from memory

Buy cubed or slice your own cheese l  use cheddars swiss muenster etc etc etc

buy a boursin cheese or equivalent

buy some cured meat sliced up like salami sliced and cut in cracker sized pieces, arrange on platter

get  at least 2 different good quality crackers of your choice.  2 varieties minimum

buy some good quality fresh grapes either green red or both seedless

buy some fresh berries for garnish color and nutrition

fresh mozzarella balls

buy a nice garlic hummus

baby carrots

I like to add  some nuts on mine too mixed nuts

you with somewhat of an artistic flair arrange and enjoy.

easy peasy

I made this one out of cherry and mahogany. It's flat.

Please do not EVER, EVER invite @Gugny or @SDS to assist you with a project. One will drill an oblong circle…the other will shoot you with a nail gun. Be a lone wolf.

Oblong circle = art

Nail gun shooting = attempted murder

Thank you. 🙂 I will leave that part of it to my wife. I'm talking about making the wood board itself.

Nice to see someone wanting to craft something they could just buy with a tap of their finger….

…..with that, I got nothing.

Woodworking is an art!
