Yesterday, in an interview with Martha McCallum on Fox News, Vice President J.D. Vance was asked for his thoughts on the recent outbreak of hostilities between India and Pakistan.

The answer he gave was such a departure from Washington politician-speak that it is probably going to cause everyone in D.C. to throw a conniption today.

Watch:

We will stand ready to defend OUR interests but otherwise countries that have been virtually at war for decades and decades will have to work this out.

Sounds like cope because war is breaking out on their watch and they have no solution.

The exact same thing they blamed Biden for.

Hypocritical idiots.

Well done!

Also makes Vance look like an idiot for his comment about not caring about what other nations do

It’s interesting watching the Vance/Rubio dynamic in this Administration.

They seem to genuinely get along, while also - very clearly - being the two front runners to succeed Trump.

Good to see them get this locked down.  Last thing the world needs is India/Pakistan poppin off.. hopefully this lasts.

Not sure how genuine it is. Vance showed him up at the Zelensky debacle. Guys at that level just don’t go “no problem” and forget about it. Rubio is more concise, clear and polished imo and been working towards this moment. Vance just showed up and definitely needs to work on his craft.

You are misreading his comments,

Mediating by the US is NOT the same as picking sides, sending billions, or sending equipment.

Of course that's what you thought, because that's how the media spin it.

The full comments tell a completely different story.

"Well look, we’re concerned about any time nuclear powers collide and have a major conflict. What we’ve said, what Secretary Rubio has said, and certainly what the President has said is, we want this thing to deescalate as quickly as possible," Vance told Fox News’ Martha McCallum on "The Story" Thursday.

"We can’t control these countries though, fundamentally, India has its gripes with Pakistan. Pakistan has responded to India. What we can do is encourage these folks to deescalate a little bit, but we're not going to get involved in the middle of a war that's fundamentally none of our business and has nothing to do with America's ability to control it."

It sounds like the most honest and reasonable answer a high ranking American official can give.  You’re confusing political posturing— something we all know happens, with governance and leadership.

What specifically did you find idiotic about what Vance offered here?

It sounds right, but comes across ambiguous, given U.S. actions elsewhere.
