The article say that it wasn’t negligent operation

sounds like it’s very possibly the terrifying freak accident of banging your head on cement when you fall and just having terrible luck.

The guy was riding on the back of the cart, which is strictly prohibited and very dumb.  It’s entirely possible that he just lost his grip when Elway went around a corner. In fact, that’s the most likely scenario.

Happens near me all the time.  I work at a country club and most of the golfers have their own carts.

It's scary.

I think some lady killed a bride leaving her wedding reception flying around on a golf cart...

Not speculating about this accident, but its kind of common knowledge in Denver that Elway is a big drinker. Maybe too big.

That explains the Paxton Lynch draft pick

There has been some terrible accidents out here,  a few teenagers flipped a cart and died.

Happens too often.

He was just at the Nuggets Clippers game last night. They showed him in the stands scarfing down a large bag of pop corn.

You’re thinking of Peyton Manning…

Our old neighborhood in Florida does a HUGE Halloween event, and people often traveled around in golf carts, either borrowed from the club or their own personal carts. One kid ran over another kid and broke his leg. New rule: You had to have a license or be of a certain age. Our son wasn’t old enough, but we pointed out how serious it was, then told him he can still use it. Be responsible, which he is, and we will take our chances.

There was a firm rule that he was the only one allowed to drive the cart, as most kids that age really are idiots. So my son is driving around with a couple friends (it was a 4 passenger cart, not for golf) and one kid knocks my son’s hat off. He stops the cart to go back for his hat, and the kid jumps into the drivers seat and takes off. He’s looking back at by son laughing as he races away…..straight into an oak tree causing about $500 damage to the cart. Fortunately, nobody was badly hurt.

It’s VERY easy to have something serious go wrong, especially if kids or alcohol are involved. What a horrible tragedy.

For real. The worst part from my story was that after that we weren't allowed to use the golf facilities at Saddlebrook in Pasco county for the rest of the 6 week training program.

We had a 4 seater for riding around with a cooler, so I rented carts in our neighborhood. My first time on the course I made a tactical error, like skiing and black diamonds are the only option ahead of you. I was alone in the cart and almost tipped the damn thing over on its side when the terrain surprised me. I was holding on for dear life!  😂

My son’s friends “borrowed” carts on a few occasions, and at least one maintenance cart wound up in a lake. Oops! My wife played snitch in that one.

Do we know if it was a 2 seater cart with a place for bags on the back? Or a 4 seater, with 2 more seats in the back? That’s what we had and we loved it.

I don’t know enough about what happened to have an opinion, but this is just a terrible tragedy. A broken wrist would have taught this lesson.

Golf courses don’t use four-seaters.

Thats what I was thinking,  I have a 4 seater that is street legal... he would need to have been hanging on to where the golf bags go, or it was someones private cart..

Do we know for sure it was the golf course’s cart? There were a bunch of 4 seaters around our course all the time. People would bring their own up to the club to eat……..or for drinks.

Pretty safe bet Elway was driving his own custom cart that’s got a little bit more juice than your standard EZ-Go at the local muni.

Had a buddy years ago break his neck in a golf cart accident, while we were at a work event.  The bar to operating those should probably be a little higher

The speed possible with the lack of protection is no joke. I golf fairly regularly and a time or two downhill ive had it start to slide because of the weather and that was at low speed, it was not fun.

People tell me I drive the cart like a weenie, but I've been one oak tree away from going over a cliff on one skidding down a hill on bald tires so, yeah I'm a weenie.

Was out yesterday for the first time this year, course was still pretty wet, and they got all new MUCH FASTER carts over the winter.  We had a couple dicey moments with my wife saying SLOW DOWN
