There will be an NFL Triple-header on Christmas (a Thursday)

Honestly too much of a good thing is a bad thing. Consistent Thursday games are one of the worst things to happen to the NFL. Before then seeing NFL games kind of felt "special". The week had a great flow to it. Sunday was the mega day for football and then you had Monday Night Football to close out the schedule and give you one last taste. Then Tuesday everything was recapped and football reseeded a bit until the weekend. Now the Thursday games jammed in the middle of the week just make everything non-stop NFL. Add in X-Mas games and Saturday games later in the season and it is just too much at times.

The one good thing about Thursday games is if you're in a football pool that requires all game picks be in before the Thursday game starts.  Some people forget and end up with a 0 for that week.

Actually in this case its pretty easy to have your cake and eat it too.  Until recently the NFL never played on Christmas day so its obviously not critical that they do.

If Goodell had his way the NFL would schedule games 7 days a week. The ones who are not happy about football on Christmas is the NBA. That used to be there day but ever since the NFL took over the NBA gets crushed in the ratings on Christmas.

No question but it isn't unreasonable to want to watch the 17 games and to feel disappointed and express that displeasure by the NFL decision to change those dynamics.  I am almost certain that very few player actually want to play football on Christmas day and the support staff including Police officers, vendors, security, parking staff.   For me missing the game is very disappointing  for me but for the people required to work on that day they don't have a real choice.  Football on Christmas day is just a bad idea.

I hope they get that game out of the way early in the year.  It’s a meaningless game that will garner a ton of attention, create a ton of talking points and will be extremely physical.

 

i hope they play them early October on a Sunday night and just get it over with.

The Eagles played the Giants on Christmas in 2023. I doubt the Eagles get a 2nd Christmas game in 3 years.
