The interesting crossroads will be the upcoming contract negotiations

the pick was easy, even if just for a year.

does Dallas guarantee him huge dollars for maybe 3 years on a 5 year deal now?

Tell that to Beane

I think the Bills should have tried to get Pickens but I also think its likely that he wouldn’t be putting up the numbers in Buffalo that he is with Dallas. It helps that Dallas already had a legit number 1 receiver in Lamb and they have an offensive minded coach that actually understands how to call plays.

What receiver has succeeded under Brady?

Talk on the radio was that Dallas have apparently informed Pickens they are going to franchise tag him if they can’t work out a deal. Believe they said that was reported by Ian Rapoport?

Dont think he changes team unless someone gives up at least a second rounder but I would bet if someone really wants his services, a first rounder isn’t unfathomable.

I’d send a first for him.

fair points, but when Lamb was hurt Pickens was still lightening it up.  Although, Brady would have to use him correctly.

To me, Pickens is a buyer-be-aware case. He has enough head case in well-run organization Pittsburgh. He wanted big contract from the Steelers, didn’t get it. So he moved on to Cowboys. I don’t see him be content without getting the bag this off season.

It's not just that Beane ignored the WR position, it's the fact that he poured all his resources into the defensive side and the defense is still awful. Arguably worse than last season.

The failure of the defense to be a respectable unit is mostly due to injuries.

In the first 10 games of the season, the 4 veteran additions of Bosa, Hoecht, Larry O, and Shaq Thompson and the 6 rookie additions of Hairston, Sanders, Jackson, Walker, Hancock and Strong missed a total of 45 man/games (and counting).

Add the 24 man/games missed by Ed Oliver, Epenesa, Bernard, Dorian, Milano, Benford, Tre White, Taron, and Rapp and you've lost 69 man/games in 10 weeks. Even subtracting Dorian Strong and Jordan Hancock's 7 each and you're still missing 5.5 core defensive players each week.

The only core defenders who've played every game this year are Rousseau, Bosa, and Cam Lewis... just 3 players. And both Bosa and Rousseau have played through injuries.

And this version of Pickens is playing opposite CeeDee Lamb which we don't have. So is Pickens really going to put up same numbers here? I doubt it. Toss in he'd still be in a rotation here cuz it's our philosophy/scheme to not focus on one guy but instead find the open guy vs keep feeding one guy.

Look at Philly as an example, AJ Brown been an alpha there the last few years but this year they elected to share the wealth as it were an AJ stats aren't where they've been in years past.

People said that about Diggs too because he played opposite Thielen lol. The dude is a star. May end up a nut case but he is still a star and performing like one. This team needs a star or three more.

Was it contract orientated disgruntlement? I’d venture it was more the lack of use. There was some games he was an afterthought which is peculiar because all they did was swapped Pickens for DK and seem to funnel all the WR production through him.

Was Tomlin proving a point and letting him know he isn’t bigger than the team? Probably and he might be right to do that. But when you have a guy of Pickens’ talents I would venture to try and have him the absolute focal point. Especially if it means “his head is screwed on”.

Pickens will get the bag whatever happens. He’s either playing on the Franchise Tag like Rapoport has alluded Jerry has said or he’s tagged and traded like Frank Clark from recent years who was handed the bag after the trade.

Pickens may be a head case but he’s got undeniable talent. Elite even.

Pickens is a guy who can hurt and threaten defenses badly downfield, and he plays with a second guy like that in CeeDee Lamb. Having that makes Dak so much better… and in the big moments you saw Pickens close out the Chiefs by getting open on a crucial third down in the 4th Q.

Like Davante Adams, AJ Brown, Puka Nucua, Devonta Smith… every great team has one or two such guys. Stafford is having his best ever season. The Eagles don’t have the QB to make them as lethal as we could.

Even the Chiefs with very little cap room have Hollywood (who was such a guy for the Ravens) and Rice, plus Kelce.

The Bills of course have never had two, and have zero since Diggs left. So if we could get at least one we should absolutely do that. I would trade a first plus Keon (see what we did there) in a heartbeat for Pickens.

That is true, but Dak is also just better than people ever want to think he is. He is not elite, but he has consistently been in that next tier of guys pretty much his whole career and people talk about him like he is Kirk Cousins or Bengals Andy Dalton level or something.
