Impact of Dobbs and Abortion Laws

Recommended Posts

Well, people last night voted to affirm abortion rights in all states where it was on the ballot. Voters in KY, MI, VT, CA & MT chose to protect womens rights. That is about as diverse a group of states as you could choose.

It is pretty clear now how most Americans feel about this issue. I would expect Democrats to push to get this issue on ballots in other states in future elections.

Nobody in blue states, that understand abortion law, is concerned.

It’s a political football for dumb people.

Smart people who want power just throw it around.

Hochul convinced people Zeldin was going to make abortion illegal in NY.   There’s absolutely zero chance he can do anything to abortion if he wanted to, but most voters are easily manipulated and/or lack intelligence (on both sides)

This is strictly anecdotal but out here in midnight deep blue California there were almost ZERO television ads for a ballot measure to make abortion part of the State’s Constitution. Instead, the ballot measure we heard about for the last six months day in and day out was regarding Indian Casinos and Sports Gambling.  “Dobbs on the Ballot”….hardly.

If I was a betting man I’d say the majority of states will end up with a first trimester limit on abortion.

I bet you would lose that bet

Between 6-800,000 abortions per year in this country depending on whose numbers you look at. That's more than COVID "killed" in it's first year.

Why you hate baby's so much

That's the spirit! This anti-abortion sentiment is what is killing the GOP. DeSantis is as tied to it as Trump is

You are right. It is, it's losing the GOP basically all women's vote.

It's just so immoral though.

I wonder what proactive measures we can take to cut back on abortion?

Is there anything we should impose on… men?

Is the right to terminate your unborn child a human right?

If the concern was truly about elective pregnancies, the GOP would push root cause mitigations.

But it’s not, so they don’t.

It's a really tough issue for many people on a spiritual level.

I understand that the cat is not going back in the bag. Not to claim some sort of moral high ground, none of us are perfect. It's just a tough issue from a morality standpoint, for me, and many others.

I get that. And if one’s goal was to fix what they viewed as a problem, they should conduct a root cause analysis or study.

If the problem is elective abortions, then we should ask: why are people getting elective abortions?

There are likely many different reasons and I know there are studies on this very topic as well.

If we’re not addressing the root causes of a problem, we’re are only treating the symptoms and not solving the problem.

Best part is, many liberals would support policies combating some of the root causes, so there’s bipartisan potential there.

I'm uncomfortable in a society where abortions are so popular.

Also, the fact that planned Parenthood are strategically  situated in the projects and on main bus routes across our nation, is seriously disturbing.

But you guys get the baby killer vote so you should be so proud of yourselves

So we can put you down as a YES for mandatory vasectomies for each male when they reach puberty that is only reversible when they are ready to start a family?

Fair enough?

Everyone has an opinion - congrats.

So let us know when you come off your moral high ground and continue to legislate WOMEN and not the issue.

ps: how does your moral high ground square with the issue of guns and mass shootings? Have you notice that it all comes back to YOU and what YOU want YOU get all all cost.

Make them 3500 bucks. If the 16 year old couple can't afford it they can apply for a no interest govt loan which they have to pay back 300 a month for 3 years.

There needs to be concrete consequences to ending a human life.

It needs not to be like going to the McDonald's drive through window.

And of course if it's due to criminal circumstances then the woman/girl is not financially responsible.

Issue solved, you're welcome and have a nice day.

So if I understand your ridiculous position correctly, you believe that every pregnancy is the result of a rape? Well at least we know where you stand.

It’s become way passed the point of ridiculous now. He/she/they has created more subsets of the human race that he/she/they are willing to stand up for, except for the weakest, most voiceless subset of them all….a defenseless, pre-born human. Absolutely stunning!

Sadly, the person we are referring to, is a microcosm of our morally bankrupt society.

Someone has to be a voice for the voiceless

What’s absolutely stunning is the fact that you and @TSOLjust want to bich about the problem - not help solve it.

And the ‘problem’ that needs solving is the existence of children? Nice! You do realize that they’re PEOPLE….not a disease….right?

Why is it ridiculous?  You are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

And what do my children have to do with this discussion other than I don’t want their heads getting blown off at school or a grocery store because of the GOP obsessions with guns?
