Gov. Youngkin issues executive orders to end school mask mandate; investigate 'wrongdoing' in Loudoun

Gov. Glenn Youngkin issued 11 executive orders just after taking office at noon Saturday, including an end to the mask mandate in Virginia schools.

The order "delivers on his Day One promise to empower Virginia parents in their children’s education and upbringing by allowing parents to make decisions on whether their child wears a mask in school," Youngkin's office said in a news release.

Youngkin has also issued an order to "investigate wrong-doing in Loudoun County," presumably referring to a series high-profile criminal cases involving students and staff.

The school division gained national attention last year following  the arrest of a 14-year-old Loudoun County high school student charged with two counts of sexually assaulting a schoolmate in a bathroom. That case sparked outrage among parents after the teen was moved to a new school and charged in a second sexual assault case -- while wearing an ankle monitor. The teen was recently sentenced in juvenile court. The victim in the case is the daughter of a man arrested for disorderly conduct at school board meeting earlier in the year.

MAKE THE RUBBLE BOUNCE:

Glenn Youngkin and Company Start Things off by Going Scorched Earth in Virginia.

“On his first day in office, Youngkin is going to sign an order to eliminate the state-wide mask mandate for children in schools. That’s in response to the overwhelming amount of data that masks in schools have been one of the most useless, asinine policies of the COVID-19 pandemic. . . .

Further, Youngkin also announced the hiring of outspoken anti-CRT voice Jillian Balow as Education Superintendent, which will hopefully help to rein in the state’s rogue school boards. Clearly, things aren’t going the way Larry Hogan’s administration went in Maryland.”

Good.

Ready for an N95? Here's how to find a high-quality one that fits you well

After months of public health experts urging Americans to start wearing higher quality masks, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday updated its mask guidance for consumers.

While the agency didn't recommend one type of mask over another, its new guidance emphasizes that N95s and similar high-filtration respirators offer the best protection against COVID-19.

So which respirator is right for you? And where can you buy a legitimate one? And do they have to be uncomfortable?

In orange county FL our superintendent the week that it was announced by the CDC that cloth masks don't do anything reinstituted our teachers must wear mask policy. I have since found out that some teachers were threatening not to work since they are afraid.

the mask policy doesnt even make sense.  the kids must wear a mask while not moving in PE but if they are moving they can remove the mask.  the teachers have made their threats here too.  yes, many are afraid, others want to be lazy and go back to virtual.

They're desperate to drag this out until the mid-terms so they use it to justify implementing the changes they made for the 2020 elections, rig them and hopefully elect more Commie Senators to make Manchin and Sinema superfluous and pass their crooked voting bill.

Anyone know why John McCain was called a maverick for going his own way from time to time while Manchin and Sinema are called traitors and racists?  Anybody?

A possible COVID benefit: Medical face masks make us more attractive, study finds

The pandemic has upended a lot of aspects in our lives, but it may have also changed what we find attractive in others.

Medical masks, originally a social taboo associated with sickness and disease, have now been found to increase attractiveness, according to a new peer-reviewed study by Cardiff University researchers published on Monday.

Admittedly, a mask does cover half of your face, so the increased attractiveness could be tied to the "beauty of occlusion," the researchers say.

The study was part of continuing research exploring attractiveness and mate choice and how those norms have shifted after COVID. It involved the participation of 43 Cardiff University female undergraduate psychology students, who viewed 40 male faces, 20 of which were attractive and 20 of which were unattractive, based on previous ratings.

Send these people to the f...ing sun

Or just don’t comply, by not wearing a mask at all...that’s what I do...👍
