It is a video to the Maiden song about Dune that someone created using footage from the original film. When your hand feels like it's burning to a crisp (in this case it literally feels like that), you'll react on impulse. I would say that's a serious test. Also would make sense that the "chosen one" shouldn't be susceptible to random old lady's screeches. I'd say it was a mistake not making both films together for timing/cost sake. You're missing the point it isn't a question of if he can do it if randomly asked, but can he do it at all. Also "do the right thing when no one is looking" how does that even apply here this wasn't a moral question. As to what the actual test proves, I'd say it proves he could keep his head on straight and and do what he needed to do despite extreme distractions.
