Just checked out fivethirtyeight.com.  the 1711 rating the Bills currently have is the highest in team history going back to 1960.  Their previous high score of 1705 was in 1991, after the Bills defeated the Raiders 51-3.

They also have Josh Allen rated as the best QB in the league ahead of Mahomes and Rodgers.

These are unprecedented times as a Bills fan.....we have a special team this year.

For the uninitiated, what is an Elo rating and what the heck does it mean?

Its a mathematical model that's used to give players/teams ratings in various games.  A win over a good team will give you more elo points than a win over a bad team...that sort of thing.

They rate qbs as well using elo and josh just overtook the mighty Patrick mahomes for the number 1 spot tonight

Thanks...so it’s just a single numerical measure of how good a team is?

Yup by comparing them with the skill level of their opponents...not sure if fivethirtyeight expands on that basic idea...they might factor in margin of victory and that kind of stuff.  You see elo used in the matchmaking for competitive video games a lot so you get similarly skilled teams playing eachother

An 'average' team is rated around 1500 in fivethirtyeights nfl ratings...were just under the saints and not far behind the chiefs making us 3rd overall
