Have the Bills gone CHEAP at the Nose Tackle position?

The top paid NT's in the NFL make $12 mil plus.  Aaron Donald for the LAR is at $22 mil and DeForest Buckner of the Colts gets $21 mil.

Of the top 25 DT's by salary the Bills have only Vernon Butler at #23 at $7.5 mil.  Star is 28th at $6.2 mil.

Maybe we've overlooked this position (NT) by signing a group of never-been players to the DL in the off-season?

those 4 guys making up that stat include Quinton Jefferson who is really a DE, Ed Oliver that shouldn't be playing in the middle and Harrison Phillips that has yet shown very little.  Having a lot of guys doesn't mean you have quality players.  Sorry!

The real question is:

What’s more effective - McD’s rotation method or the big named player with a price tag?

someone has to be tough right up the gut!  We don't have that at Nose Tackle!

Your title clearly states whether the Bills were cheap on DTs. They are 4th in spending and used a recent 1st round pick on one. As for quality, well that's a completely different story.

AGAIN - Phillips, Jefferson and Oliver are not true NT's.

Yep. From the Panthers - former 1st round pick  https://bufbills.com/player-bios/94_vernon_butler.pdf

About the only one on the d-line who has the prototypical build to fill that role of 1-tech DT, but other than that splash play against the Raiders I have not really noticed him.

Neither Donald nor Buckner are nose tackles.

Good idea, it never hurts having all-pro players:

now we just have to acquire the player we can not find and pay them a salary we cannot afford.

this logic is my uncle’s: if there is an imperfection at a position, he wants a complete overhaul or dominant player right away. You can’t pay everyone boat loads and spend assets at every position It ain’t happening.
