Remember, we're in a pandemic. We are in a situation where restaurants can be open because of how well citizens of the state have come together to social distance and wear masks. unfortunately, people are getting inebriated (that's not the unfortunate part) and failing to social distance (this is the unfortunate part) or wear masks when walking around the bar/restaurant (the other unfortunately part). When people are inebriated, Covid rules are not followed.

I think it's a good rule. Bars and restaurants were not following the previous order. It's better than shutting them down entirely.

I also think bar/restaurant owners should be subsidized for the amount of revenue they have lost, but that's for a different thread.

Restaurants can be opened because they refuse to do anything to shut down or slow the economy, there arent many states that should be patting themselves on the back for doing a good job to get to a point where restrictions can be lifted.

Alot of places have either started to, or may end up charging their own surcharges/taxes to try and recover lost income from being shut down.

The problem with bars is that it really only takes that one guy in the bar who get overly social that can cause the problem. And usually, most people get more social the more they drink. So it's either force people to eat too and stay in seats or further restrict how much can be served

Hoping Comrade Cuomo makes this same order applicable to Starbucks and other smoothie bars. You can’t just order an “organic green tea latte mochachino goat milk frappe”...you have to order a 3000 calorie carrot cake muffin as well.

People don’t linger for hours drinking and chatting shoulder to shoulder at smoothie bars.  They order their organic green tea kombucha smoothie and GTFO down the road to the Bikram Yoga class

I would like to welcome you to beautiful Missouri where the bars are open, no requirement to buy chips.  Of course, officially the Covid-19 + rate just climbed to 8% locally here.

Unofficially, DHSS is backlogged in documenting about 10,000 cases and test results are taking 7-10 days unless you’re a Priority 1 patient, and an amateur who collates cases from individual counties and laboratories indicated we topped 1,000 cases per day on Weds - RECORD!  For a state with 6M population.

This ain’t no *****in’ fake news on the tests, I was busting my hump yesterday and this am trying to find an open testing spot for friend in late 50s with preexisting conditions.  Been running 103 fever, extreme fatigue, body aches, chills since Weds.  Best I could do was tomorrow am, expect results in 6-10 days.  Let’s get this straight: in a city with 2 major medical schools 4.5 months into an epidemic, 9-13 days to get a test and results.   Contact tracing and “box in” strategies are impossible with that turn around.  Meanwhile our governor says masks are a “personal choice” and no one should be ordered to wear a “dang mask”.

Welcome to Missouri, Have Fun, Don’t Get Hurt.  So maybe, just maybe, you should Check your Snark about Cuomo a bit.  You got it damn good in NYS Covid-19 wise.

Personally I think Cuomo should close the bars and open the primary schools, but that’s just me.

You clearly see things differently than me. That’s your choice. I wish you well.

If bars are the problem, I agree.  I feel for the bar owners and their staffs, but as the parent of a high school student, I know what my priority is.

That said ... I think bars CAN enforce social distance and stay open.  Generally speaking, they haven't shown that they want to.

Gee, what part do I see differently?  The climbing case rate?  The climbing hospitalization rate?  The soon-to-follow climbing death rate around here?

Action on the part of the government -> reaction on the part of the virus.

It’s not my choice, I got no say in this.

One of the places on my regular lunch parade has a nice covered but open patio. They have good tuna tacos and I was a regular. For some crazy reason they decided now would be a good time for you to be forced to order at the bar. I had to go inside and hang out for 10-15 minutes to get my order in and get my Arnold Palmer.....while surrounded by a couple dozen guys pounding Guinness.

I have no problems with guys having their beers (though wishing there was more space and ventilation), I have a SERIOUS problem with ME being forced to hang with them for so long. A runner brought me my food, why couldn’t he take my order?

I have not been back since, and maybe tomorrow I’ll actually get around to emailing them about their stupidity.

I’ll say it again. You interpret (see things) differently than me. And how is my “snark” any different from your own thread which is labeled “COVID Humor” (with a cone of shame...”Vets to the Rescue”)? Cuomo isn’t “all that” (although I’m glad he finally started to wear a mask at times).

I stopped in  for happy hour tonight at one of my go to establishments.  Back to 25% capacity.....normally it would be hard to find a seat or a table at 6pm. i asked if I could buy a bag a chips,  but that didn't qualify so I got a plate of nachos to split with the group (very good by the way) Bar was empty,  because its off limits and there were maybe 5 tables of patrons. Its a one off local family. Not a chain restaurant. Its a sad state of affairs. A lot of small businesses will cease to exist after this. If you are compromised or don't feel safe going out then by all means stay home, but life comes with risks. Be safe and take precautions,  but we're not all going to die.

Well in our days kids are fingerbanging behind staircases on the reg in school... less chance of infection having a dinner you have with family normally anyways than that classroom skank passing off who knows what.

Oh, no fever! and Flu like symptoms... did the Flu go extinct all of a sudden and every flu-like case is now Covid-19? Just asking for a friend!

You have a say in that desecration of the flag raising on Iwo Jima in your avatar... might as well change the American flag to a Biden 2020 flag:cry:

Ew, even with no Covid nobody wants to see a sausage fest of bros guzzling girly beers while rubbing on each other... unless it was the 2019 Carolina Panther locker room and it involved oilings of Kuechly and McCaffreys sore muscles...

Everyone was buying chips at my local  establishment yesterday afternoon. I got a buffalo shrimp wrap (delicious). Next week, we'll be hanging a framed photo on the wall of my friend that Emperor Cuomo killed with his extended lockdown.

Sorry for your loss.  How did the lockdown kill your friend?

Boo hoo.  Take  one for  the  team Comrade.  You're friend  is a true  hero.

I mentioned here that  in the 1930s my grandfather  had a good paying  job on the railroad.   FDR cut his pay from $36 a week  in GOLD to $18 in paper and  eliminated  the ability to strike.  My grandfather  hated "that  crippled basstard" till the day he died...BUT my grandfather  voted for  him 4 times.  My grandfather  still had a job and knew it was best for  the  country.  ...Even after  the Federal  Government scared people to trade  in their gold  for  paper.  My Grandfather  died penniless.

Unless... Your  friend  was physically killed by Prince Andy, he'll get over it (no matter  where he is) knowing  he helped  others, just like my grandfather.

Thank you. He wasn't allowed to see anyone. It was the 10 year anniversary of his wife's death. He couldn't take it anymore. He's with his wife now which is the only comfort from it.

You're blaming Governor Cuomo for your friend's suicide?  I don't think that's how that works.  Frankly, I find it ridiculous.
