B-Man
R.I.P. for Welfare Reform in New York. The welfare rolls shrank dramatically during the Giuliani and Bloomberg administrations, but they’re rising again at the fastest rate in decades, and it’s not just because of illegal immigrants. The city’s emphasis on “equity” and “benefit access” over jobs and self-sufficiency will produce chronically dependent and dissatisfied residents. https://www.city-journal.org/article/r-i-p-for-welfare-reform-in-new-york . B-Man
New York Opens a Back Door to Communism American Thinker, by John Green Our founders saw our various states as places to experiment with governance. Each can test ideas to see what works and what doesn’t. Citizens can provide feedback by migrating to those places where things work the best. I doubt that our founders expected an experiment to see if a communist state can coexist in a capitalist country. But New York has decided to conduct that experiment, seizing the means of production via lawsuits. During her campaign, New York attorney general Letitia James made the Lavrentiy Beria pledge to find a crime and “get Donald Trump.” It turns out she’s a woman of her word. https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2024/03/new_york_opens_a_back_door_to_communism.html . Tommy Callahan
They cut the police budget. Craft laws to make it impossible to get criminals off the streets. Then it's jumping to having the national guard infringing on everyone's rights. Vs holding individuals accountable for their actions.

JDHillFan
I don’t understand why the National Guard is necessary. Hasn’t New York City been benefiting from Democratic rule for quite some time now? How could it have ended up like this? Maybe it’s something with the policies. Baffling.

I predicted last year that all this "defund the police!" idiocy would lead to militarization.
Gregg
Don't worry. Hochul will show everyone how safe the subways are by riding them with her private security team armed with automatic weapons. Nothing will happen to her, and she will declare the subways safe.

Tommy Callahan
The military checking bags at the NYC subway sure reeks of intelligence of an attack. Vs stopping crime. Went from no cops to military infringing on the fourth really fast. Now hardening of the capital. The hardening of the SC last week? What chatter are they hearing 1

It is necessary, but still astounding that a Democratic Governor would use the National Guard for the general protection against crime rather than in response to violent protests, etc. The civil rights vs. law enforcement pendulum has officially swung back in the law enforcement direction. 11 minutes ago, B-Man said: Ugh, she's awful. Tommy Callahan
The thing that doesn't make sense is they are not checking pockets. or Frisking. But bags only . So they are looking for large sized object. When the crimes that happen in the subways are mostly assaults and robberies. Murders with guns or knives. Neither would involve a large device one would need a bag for.
