Tua out for season with Hip Fracture (update - declares for draft)

Recommended Posts

That could be a career-ending injury.

Bo Jackson comes to mind.

Hope not for his sake, but dislocating your hip out the back of the pelvic cup can't be anything but horrific. :(

I’ve heard it’s incredibly painful. Hip is pretty important to a QB

My dream scenario has Miami winning just enough games to pick #3, with the teams in front of them desperately needing QBs.

GO BENGALS!!!!

This is terribly sad news for the young man.  I hope he's able to recover enough to play again.  Poor kid.

With his injury history teams might shy away from him.

I think that might be less true with rookie contracts capped the way they are. Used to matter a lot more when you had to sign rookies to high end contracts right out of the gate. However in this situation, he may not even be an option. Hip injuries are rare but very serious. It might be a couple years before he can play again.

Willis McGahee-like April drop into the Bills lap?

Oh man if the Bills are on the clock and he’s still on the board will probably be the most anxious 10 minutes of my life.  Would the Bills do it??

I dont think they are worried about the money its whether he can play up to his abilities or not .

I was speaking in general terms. Minus this injury, it certainly would be a concern for NFL teams but I don't think it would've effected his draft position.

No.

They aren't picking QB round one.

Probably not rounds two or three either.

If Allen continues to not elevate our offense to the next step, a QB will be taken in the first 3 rounds.  If Tua is there...it’s going to be a wild 10 minutes.

I’d hope they’d seriously consider it. If anything, it could be an investment in the trade market the following year......or, maybe some team early in the second would want to trade up?

I guess we need to see the extent of his injury.

I still can't see them taking a QB in the top 3 Rounds this upcoming draft

That would actually be the vote of death for Allen imo. Rounds 5-6 a gold possibility but if they spend a premium pick they are giving up

Wow this is very sad.  I hope he can come back, for whichever NFL team takes him.  An article I just read did not sound optimistic at all and even mentioned hip replacement being realistic.  Sorry no link but it was the Washington Post.

It's sad to see a kid that has worked so hard have this kind of circumstance.
