Man the Caps played like CRAP last night and the Canes played as if their life depended on it  (well it kind of did)

Too much at one time?  We'll see.

when you take the first two at home, you aren't too overly concerned about winning the third game

if the opponent is grossly inferior or has simply quit, then you'll take the game gladly

otherwise you save energy and make the weaker team go twice as hard in desperation, if they win that's fine, make them push twice as hard to get the 4th game as well

this can backfire...

Geez, I like Ovi even more now.  That was impressive.

Yeah, me too.    Its funny the Ovi haters say

he's not tough

doesn't play defense

and when he gets into these rare big fights he 's a thug for picking on a 19 year old 40 pounds lighter than him

Welcome to the NHL playoffs Rookie

I read last night that it was Ovechkin's first fight since 2010.

I also wonder whether there's a side story since they're both Russian.

Possible.  The kid was prodding him.  The Canes were kicking their butts on the ice and maybe the kid got to cocky  as he was poking Ovi with the end of he stick a few times

I thought I heard that Ovi's only had 3 (of these types of fights) as well.

Even though we see punches all the time by most every player in the NHL

Good two days ahead sports wise... starting with the Lightning hopefully getting blown out on the road tonight, Jacketsville will go nuts... dancing in the streets.

Schedule release tomorrow night for the NFL.

Maybe a 3 for 2, the Leafs take the next one too.

That was a beating....you never see guys stay down like that after a fight.

Nothing wrong there...they were both jabbing, Ovi clearly asked if he wanted to go and clearly got a 'yes'.

I’m starting to feel sorry for the kid

Also seen in the video.   It shows the kid jabbing and jabbering

...so do we see two sweeps tonight?............

As long as Columbus knocks off the "feel the thunder, be the thunder" crowd tonight I'm good.

The roads around here will be less congested.

It was actually Svechnikov that asked Ovi to fight. Ovi mentioned it after the game. He said Svech asked him to go and he said ok.

Bet the kid won’t ask him again. lol

He was knocked out. You could see it right away by the way his hands/arms stiffened up. Announcers also eventually mentioned that he was out cold for a minute.

Yeah...saw that too.  You'd think a kid who grew up in hockey would have known better than to pick a fight with Ovi, but must have thought he wouldn't fight.   Apparently:
