Who are these guys? And do they really have a legit shot at making the team? At least Lockett would be a given to make the team if we trade a late round pick for him. Plus, while not great, Lockett is better than the scrap heap at the WR position we have after Benjamin.

How many of these guys will actually make the team though? Lockett will at least make the team. Some of these guy may have speed but if they don't make the team it doesn't matter

We are not going after Lockett, and certainly not throwing a 1st when there are better options deserving of a 1st. Lets see what we have with better QB play. A few years ago no one knew who Diggs and Thielen was, but with better Qbacking they are household names for the Vikes.

I dont see McBean trading draft picks for players.  They will want to draft their guys and get the cheap labor for the whole rookie contract.

Who said anything about throwing a first? I said a late round pick

It's sad when we have to talk about trying to acquire mediocre receiving talent because the bills have done such a crap job targeting skill position talent.

That falls on beane and McDermott.

Complete nonsense. If they're still at this level four or five years in, yeah, it'll be an indictment. But after one year of play, two drafts and two FA classes, only one of which has worn Bills blue in real games, it's very reasonable indeed to have an area or two that's been missed. Particularly when the last regime left them nailed against the lid of the salary cap.

They had a ton of areas of concern. Of course they couldn't address all of them as well as they would like to have.

It's still very early days.

When they swing that Julio Jones deal they will have started to turn the corner on these trades.    Time to start being the hammer instead of the nail in these deals.

Theoretically what would you give up in a trade for him

Just curious.....

Im trying to figure out why his team would even trade him

Why bother for this year? It’s obviously 2019 that they’re shooting for.

Just remember they decided to play Mike Tolbert when they could have had better play off a scrap heap. Their illogical allegiances to "their guys" is concerning and with the cited example it hindered their on field performance.

Why do you think the SeaSnakes would trade him for a late-round pick?

Every year we see similar threads - trade a late-round pick for this that or the other player on some other team, but never any thinking about what would be that other team's motivation to do such a deal.  Paul Richardson is playing for the Redskins.  Jimmy Graham is playing for the Packers.

Wilson needs someone other than Doug Baldwin to throw to.  Obviously they hope Jaron Brown and the new TE they drafted in the 4th will work out for them, but they haven't exactly been working the phones in the FA market - they signed a couple UDFA guys - as you say, Lockett will at least make their team, and they are probably hoping with Richardson gone he will "break out" in his contract year.

I don't think they're moving him, and if they do, it won't be for a late round pick

Receivers don't scare defenses unless you have a quarterback who can hit them. You think defensive coordinators care who Aaron Rogers throws to?

Well, yeah, I do actually.  It was notable the year Rodgers lost Jordy Nelson, his pass-game production dropped.  Next year, Nelson back, Rodgers production popped right back up.

QB need WR who are "in sync" with them and run the routes they expect, the way they expect them to be run.  Rodgers is a lot easier to defend when he doesn't have 2-3 top-notch WR targets to throw to.

Yeah, they have too much allegiance. That's probably why Tolbert's still on the roster.

Mostly McD...it is clear he does not care about having an elite offense... and if it wasn’t for Beane, there is no doubt in my mind we never would have drafted a QB high- just like last year.

Of course they do...it’s no secret that most defensive minded head coaches think they can win with defense...and normally when you draft your franchise QB, everybody in the organization is excited....but I don’t see it from McD...that was reinforced when I heard a draft analyst (don’t remember who) say that if it were up to McD, he wouldn’t have made the pick...said it was all about Beane believing it was the GM’s job to find a franchise QB.

No offense here: your entire point is speculation at best

McDermott definitely had say in who the GM would be, and there's very little chance that he and Beane weren't in lockstep as to their approach to the QB position

You get the impact WR while you can because that well has run dry.

The 2014 class was the last good WR group to enter the league........and all the good ones from that class will be tied up to new deals before FA.

The sparse 2015-2018 classes aren't going to be any bonanza in FA in coming years..........so the few good ones will get PAID by their teams.

Kelvin Benjamin may end up being the top available FA WR in 2018..........mainly because he will be 28 years old, can't separate and has knee issues.

There is a reason why KC paid the much younger Watkins like an All Pro on a 3 year deal coming off what would have been a "prove it" season in years past.

Lot's of money out there in FA but not much help at WR.........ask the Niners and Jets who needed WR help and took about $100M each into FA and came out without adding a proven  stud WR.

Take a look at the playoffs.  How many teams with impact WR's made them?  By my count, half the teams that made them didn't have an impact WR.  And out of the top-50 highest paid WR's, only a handful have won a SB.

I wonder if ppl even know they look foolish using this

THEY STILL HAD TO GET THERE....that means winning important games against NFL teams.

They gave them all they could handle in that playoff game....then that opponent proceeded to knock a team the following week out of the playoffs with a franchise QB and a great set of wide receivers (killing your arguement)
