Last time David Culley was a QB Coach=1982

It isn't all on Culley and they keep talking about Daboll working with Allen. I think Daboll will spend a lot of time with the quarterbacks. I still think they should bring in Chudzinski to work as an assistant exclusively with Allen.

Allen never had a QB coach until last year and has been working with Palmer this off season and reports say that he has been helping him a lot. It just makes sense to sign Palmer to be Allen's personal QB coach, Culley can stay on and work with McCarron and Peterman.

Due to NFLPA rules it is better for Allen to have an outside coach in sync with plans of Bills.

Allen cannot treat this as a 20 week job. He needs to work on all year long and now he can afford the best trainers, doctors, physical specialists, nutritionists, etc.

Think about this - with Kelly spending his first two seasons in the USFL, Joe Ferguson is the last quarterback that this franchise successfully developed as a rookie.

It's been 40+ years since the Bills have actually been successful at this.  Our HC was disappointed enough with the offense last season that he fired his OC after one season.  Is Daboll going to be the guy that breaks the 40 year streak and successfully develops Allen?  I hope so, but McDermott's inexperience on offense and his whiff on Dennison last season don't exactly inspire a lot of confidence.

Rich Gannon:

“It’s inexcusable to me that young QB’s are left unattended on Monday and Tuesday by many coaches,” Gannon tweeted. “It’s like leaving a child in a car seat in a locked vehicle while you have a drink at the bar! Absolutely insane and it’s happening w too many teams. I know because the QB’s tell me.”

Typically Monday in NFL is workout, treatment & game film review. Tuesday is players day off. Most QB's who aren't clueless come in on Tues to watch film. Not mandatory. But most are left alone in some dark room with no experience/knowledge as to how you breakdown an opponent.

Trent Dilfer: Rich nails it again! NFL is seriously lacking in coaches that know how to “nurture” a QB to reaching his potential. Lots of them can “speak” QB development, very few actually have a clue how to execute.

Sounds like a league wide problem. Not just a Bills problem.

Dear Lord. EJ 2.0 with a much worse twitter

Another person with the EJ comparison.

Allen is NOTHING like Manuel.

Allen has considerable more talent and it's a fact. Case closed.

This is the 10,000 time this has been brought up this offseason ...

Culley is VERY RESPECTED IN COACHING CIRCLES. He is not a WR specialist, he is a FOOTBALL COACH first and foremost

Been with top notch coaches... I’ve seen WR coaches become great QB coaches and Vice versa

it might not sound ideal but Culley is a great coach

It makes me feel better to read that from you.

OTOH, giving him the belief that he is a great football coach, we have here a new drafted QB who has sporadic accuracy issues that may trace back to footwork.  So it does seem reasonable to ask what is Culley's experience working with QB on technique?

Sure it’s a reasonable question

but

Culley was always known as a great technique guy and good at Xs and Os... very good at teaching WRs the nuances of running routes and proper techniques

Im sure this goes all the way back to his time in the QB room. Proper footwork on 3-5-7 step drops... proper depth and where to hit your mark before letting it rip... keeping your feet and torso in line and in sync with your upper body... how to read the CB based on how he’s playing the WR etc

Hes not my #1 guy but I think he’s a good coach

Let the management that pulled us out of the trash heap for the first time since ‘99 build the team in their image the way they seem fit. Now people think they know which quarterback coach should be on payroll. Jesus have mercy, go back to the armchair.

Yes stated so in several threads. It is partly why I believed it was not worth effort to trade up since entire Offense coaching staff is weak IMO.

I do like McDermott n frazier tho but the rest of the staff can go coach the jets
