Enough's enough - This team went 9-7......

And we could have easily been a legit 10-6 had Peterman never started.

I seriously doubt this myself. I believe this was the wake up call the team really needed at that point to power them through. The team was getting beat every which way the weeks before.. A bold move needed to be made, and I believe it made an attitude adjustment to the team. Also Might of even been what Peterman needed to get us through most of that the snow game. Really bummed he got injured there as he was getting into a bit of rhythm.

I do fully agree with going back to TT and finishing the year with him was the proper move , and felt that way when Peterman tanked against the chargers. However there were some behind the scenes effects that were positive IMO

Yes, and I still think this team could have won 11 or 12 games this year had NP started from day one which is probably what McD wanted anyway.

And with the way the defense was playing the first month or so it would have help immensely in terms of NP acclimating and making mistakes like he did against the Chargers.

It is what it is though and look forward to hopefully seeing NP next season as the starter. He's a very gritty kid and hard worker and will make massive strides this offseason.

What in the world are you basing that on.......because the data is not there to support you

by the way....I actually do not hate Peterman.....but rookies need time for the most part

Bills were 7-9 last year not .500.  Its a 2 win improvement on a year they dumped the roster.

If you think about it......we are doing exactly what McD and Bean have preached since day one

"working to win now and working to win in the future"

We made the playoffs even thought we lost talented players and freed up cap space

We get to look forward to a very entertaining draft

I get it, 9-7 is not that great, we have had a couple 9-7 seasons during the drought but this year we "got lucky" and circumstances have us in the playoffs as a wildcard team.   But I think 9-7 with this roster is remarkable.  They are like 29th in offense, 26th in defense but found a way to win 9 games including a couple tough ones on the road in ATL and KC.  There is reason to be optimistic moving forward in my opinion.   This coaching staff has players putting in the effort, playing as a team and winning with lesser talent than some opponents.  For instance, Miami has better talent than Buffalo.

So if the effort/team contentedness continues as the talent increases we could really go places.

Read through the thread Teef, lots of fans here have the wrong perception of how and why this team made the playoffs.

Either way I'm done arguing about this and honestly regret posting in this thread (although my first response in this thread was against the OP and saying that it don't matter how the Bills got in).

Some people just want to argue with me for no reason I guess, but I'm going to enjoy and savor this next week regardless.

This team is in the playoffs because they won the games they won and other teams lost the game they lost.  Same way every team makes the playoffs.

And yes the 18 year curse was lifted.

The Bills won the tie-breakers and we're in the playoffs with the best possible first round opponent (something I predicted btw).

The point is (and I keep repeating) is that this is pretty much the same records as 2014-2016, so quit thinking this coaching staff & HO turned water into wine.

What it did do was create such low expectations that some consider it a miracle.

What was miraculous was winning 6 games where the opposition had the ball at the end of the game with a chance to win & the Bills winning each and every time.

I am as excited as anyone that they are in the playoffs and planning my Sunday, but I am not getting ahead of myself and anointing this coaching staff as an all time great.

However I am a fan and don't get stuck on the minutiae wrt to drafts, schemes and philosophy.

It is quite simple for us fans.  If a team is 8-8 for 3 seasons in a row, you look at it and say 2 more wins and you're in the playoffs.  I look at the skill positions and how they are utilized (and yes was pissed at Watkins, the trade and not targeting him enough).  I thought better coaching and tweaks to properly utilize Taylor and we'd see a huge improvement.

On the defensive side, it did not take much to see that they were undisciplined, took way too many penalties, and disorganized under Rex, which could be fixed easily to the point they would be competent.

So as said I will be here and cheering Sunday & hopefully beyond & will leave shortly thereafter while you argue about the draft, personnel moves & free agency.

I will return when Sammy signs and when a decision is made on Tyrod.

Again would we fans be so excited if they went 8-8, or 8-7-1 (as McDermott tried vs. Indy) and no playoffs.

It is the Playoffs that has created this euphoria, not a record that matches those the prior 3 years......

Flame away!!!!!

Apparently somebody pissed in your cheerios this morning. What happened did McDermott's cousin stand up your sistyugler for a date or something???

You are a joke. I remember after 5 pick Nate you came here and was apologizing and telling us you were wrong.  Then something funny happened.  Other people agreed with starting Nate for that game.  Now you change your tune because you weren't embarrassed.  You should be embarrassed now with all the Bills trash talk and Miami pumping you did all season.

And please stop telling us about your contacts and business meetings.  You cant be more than 15 years old.

Sadly, savior is a lot older than 15. He was around BBMB for years as Savioredwards

We have already achieved so much this year with what appeared to be the odds stacked against us all the way until the clock struck zero and we had the Dalton Miracle. Lets enjoy the ride even if we get blown out in Jacksonville which I really don't see happening I feel it will be a competitive low scoring affair we have already won as fans of Buffalo we got the Monkey off our back and we have a full deck of cards to play before next year in draft picks and FA signings to make our team even better. I just think people are having a hard time being positive right now. McDermott knows he just raised expectations and he better continue to deliver or he'll only get 3 more years.

I will say that the AFC was a little soft this year and the cards fell right for us for the first time in I can't remember. We played some good teams when they were playing badly also ran into some teams from the NFC on fire ATL, NO. That is all.

GO Bills! Tame those Kitties!

A lot of false and misleading info here and I'm not embarrassed about anything.

Also the fact that some folks keep bringing up NP and the Chargers proves they agree with the decision. Just too bad he's still not starting or we might actually have a chance to make a championship run....

Simmer down people. This isn't BBMB. Attack the argument not the poster.

I'm starting to think the reason the Bills made the playoffs is because they shut down that god awful forum for good. It broke the curse!

Just can't believe we are having such petty arguments in the greatest week most Bills fans have experienced in years regardless of our difference of opinions.

7-9 last year with an OT loss to Miami week 16 and sitting starters (including Taylor week 17)........

I have too agreed that Rex particularly on defense was a disaster, specifically wrt to discipline and organization (said this earlier in the thread).....

They gutted the offense and we have seen statistically the results.  I have too railed since August/September as to the play calling and  Dennison and will continue to.

Again look at Shady's #'s thanks to Dennison's schemes & play calling.

They are in the playoffs, looking forward to Sunday as it is a winnable game as I mentioned in November when they named Peterman as the starter and I was apoplectic (oh and btw right) pointing out that as the 6th seen they opponent would be Jax (oops sorry right again).

I also went on about the OT punt vs. Indy and McDermott explaining that a tie was better then a loss.......  Oops right again, a tie and Bills would not have made the playoffs.

Oh and Matthews the equal or better as a replacement for Watkins.......  Yep where are those posters?

Boy I hate being right......

There is a long thread last week that Tyrod has played his last regular season game as a Bill.  I highly doubt we are signing any top-tier QB, so yes I'm assuming that McDermott & Dennison, who pushed the Peterman agenda (remember "I made thge right decision, just the wrong result) want him to at least start next year.

I actually didnt disagree with the decision to bench TT and start Peterman in that game.  I know a lot of poster's do.

McD took a calculated risk to see if he could provide a spark and it bombed badly.  That absolutely does not mean that we would not have lost that game anyway.....the chargers were playing really well at the time.

My point is that very seldom does a rookie QB actually come in and play well and we are talking about a 5th round rookie at that.  It does not mean that Peterman is not going to improve over time and I actually think he could be a solid pro.

I am just not ready to base the teams future on that and would still draft a 1st round QB.

And there is no way I'd have Peterman as the starter for 2018, which here on the board and elsewhere seems to be a consensus......

it is?  i just haven't seen that.  in fact, most want to draft and develop a high pick qb.

if anything, this is why people are coming after you.

you think you're right?  you told us that...

sammy is elite.  that was wrong.

sammy will have a huge year this year.  that was wrong.

sammy isn't getting the numbers you expected because goff is being coached not to throw to him.  that was wrong.

since you hate being right, you should be pretty satisfied right now.
