November Movies: Thor, Justice League, Coco, & Murder

The fish out of water stuff fit well though because that’s exactly what he was. So much of the humor here and with Guardians 2 felt so forced to me. They’ve done well with a lot of their movies in fitting in humor in much more natural ways. Stark gets away with it because it’s in his character. That or they’ll have a minor character who exists solely for the comic relief (Antman’s criminal friends, the guy running the library in Doctor Strange, etc...). With this one, they took characters who were never funny and had them throwing out one liners left and right. It’s an odd change to make 17 movies into their run.

Too bad. Not surprising though.

 

if Universal had taken more time and thought this idea out much longer than they did, this "Dark Universe" could have been good.

 

It worked in the 1940's when they started the Monster-Mash with "Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman", and they could have brought that all back with a more updated and innovative process.

 

Maybe they will no better next time.....if there is a next time.

Probably won't be a next time, Hollywood hates remaking old titles, they are all about fresh new ideas, not reboots

Went with the Fiancée to see Murder on the Orient Express this weekend and thought it was great. Superb acting all around.

After the hype and fall of Suicide Squad, I wouldn't be surprised to see this fail too.

I'm more surprised that people arent boycotting it over Ben Affleck being in it..............

First we decided to crucify movies before seeing them, based solely off of reviews.  Now we're not even waiting for the reviews and instead burying a movie based off of predicted reviews?  I don't even want to know the next step on this downward spiral.

There is a history of Studios forgoing early screenings for critics when they know the movie is awful.

Considering they know the voting pattern of the limited voter set who make up Rotten Tomatoes voting not surprised.  A lot of them prefer high society dramas and other movies I never watch.  Generally I think of a movie rated poorly by Rotten Tomatoes is one I want to see.

I don't care what reviews state on Justice League other than the Flash's character (almost as bad in costume and character as the well panned Green Lantern) the rest of the characters and movie was great.  No this is not the Avengers but it was never intended be with the forced youth angst added Spider man.

It is partially why Superman is not in majority of fight - it would have shorten an already too short movie.

 

And I expected Wonder Woman to be a warrior - but Aquaman was as well and he got first blood.

I'm going to see Justice League tomorrow as a little warm up for the thanksgiving festivities.  We've got a group of about 6 houses in the neighborhood that go to all of these comic book movies together.
