Are there any racist institutions? How and why.

In addition to other information presented, I'll offer that the overwhelming majority of simple possession charges which are prosecuted are actually plead down to possession from heftier charges involving distribution, are instances where the offender is using in public, or are individuals who are known criminals rather than first time offenders.

Eureka! In all 3700 arrests of brown ppl despite police being called equally for all ethnicities for the same “offense” this must have been the case.

Prior arrests and distribution? Sample sizes are not your friend.

If this offends you so, why not add the Miami PD to the discussion?

“Find random black guys with a prior to assign unsolved crimes to”.

Don't misunderstand. I'm not arguing with whatever your larger point might be. But a guy lighting up a joint ANYWHERE is pretty much ignored throughout the country now.

Except if you are brown. I mean, the OP asked for examples of institutionalized racism. One or two examples were provided with supporting data. Immediately the supporting data is rejected and countered with mythology.

WELL, YES. Sarah Jeong Is A Warning Sign Of Something Wrong With The Left.

That really sums up what bothers me about this whole story. It’s the assumption that a public comment like “White men are bull ****” would get a shrug if not for conservatives seizing on it.

It’s an admission from the Post that there is almost nothing you can say about white men that anyone on the left would deem problematic (to borrow a popular SJW term of art).

The reason why Jeong’s tweets didn’t really matter to anyone on the left is that they’ve nearly all accepted the idea that racism doesn’t mean what most people think it means. Andrew Sullivan points out how the left has redefined it. . . .

Jeong was just exploring the space of this privileged position, secure that she could say just about anything without fear of blowback. Indeed, she had many defenders who refused to even acknowledge the possibility of another point of view about what she’d said. When you start from the premise that one group of people can’t be offended, you naturally wind up at the conclusion that anyone who says otherwise is being dishonest.

Plus: “That’s what really bothers me about this. It’s that one form of blatant bigotry gets a pass on the grounds that it won’t really hurt anyone. If the left thinks that’s true, I think they’re not paying attention.

“The New York Times stealth-edited their article about Roseanne Barr to remove a header caption after being called out for hypocrisy over Sarah Jeong. This is journalism in 2018.”

The missing header said, “The network’s decision to cancel ‘Roseanne’ over a racist comment will cost it. But when people decide to let racism slide, it costs the rest of us.”

As the Times is learning the hard way.  ..............Liberal Hypocrisy

Speaking of stealth-editing, Christina Hoff Sommers notes that there’s “No mention of Sarah Jeong’s demented tweets on her Wikipedia page.

Why? A little group of activist editors won’t allow it. Amazing. See them in action here.”

Twitter slapped Turning Point USA Communications Director Candace Owens with a temporary suspension after she highlighted racist posts made by Sarah Jeong, the recent New York Times hire whose long history of bigoted tweets about white people has placed the newspaper at the center of a public outcry. The beleaguered platform then reversed the ban, calling it an “error” in an email to Owens.

Seriously beginning to wonder when the left are going to start rounding us up

to whisk us off to the camps. I bet there wouldn't be any outcry about us

white monsters being separated from our children.

More on this:

THE ASSAULT ON FREE SPEECH, CONTINUED

The Left’s attack on free speech has many fronts, but two of the most important are Twitter and Facebook, simply because a large portion of political discussion, involving many millions of Americans, takes place on those platforms. As I noted here, our First Amendment gives powerful legal protection to political debate–protection that for now, at least, is acknowledged even by the four Democratic Party Supreme Court justices.

Unfortunately, the companies that dominate the internet, like Facebook and Twitter, are run and staffed overwhelmingly by liberals. This means that conservatives are constantly placed at a disadvantage in trying to get their messages out. Almost every day provides new examples. Here are a few for today.

Last night, Twitter suspended Candace Owens, who has 663,000 Twitter followers, for 12 hours on account of an unspecified violation of the platform’s terms and conditions. Maybe it was because Candace tweeted this criticism of Sarah Jeong:

Quote

Black people are only fit to live underground like groveling goblins. They have stopped breeding and will all go extinct soon. I enjoy being cruel to old black women.

The above statements are from @nytimes editor @sarahjeong. I simply swapped out the word “white” for “black”.

Or maybe it was because she expressed opposition to abortion, noting that it accounts for 61% of African-American deaths. In any event, a large number of Candace’s supporters contacted Twitter to complain.

There was no way Twitter could sustain the suspension, in view of the hateful trash that is constantly tweeted by leftists like Jeong. But some low-level employee evidently vented his or her hostility toward conservatism by arbitrarily suspending Owens.

Twitter pretty clearly has an algorithm scanning tweets for offensive word patterns that include any racial designation except "white."  Because they didn't include satire or reducto ad absurdum argument recognition.

Which is to say: I see why it happened,  and don't think there's some grand conspiracy at work there.  And I'm curious what happens if I tweet the same thing - does my account get shut down, or do they only track hate speech from identified right-wing sources?

The NYPD is not a racist institution.  The racial makeup of the department nearly mirrors the demographics of the city.

According to US Census data and a 2007 study on diversity in policing 28% on NYC is Hispanic, as is 24% of the NYPD; while 23% of NYC is black, as is 16% of it's police force.

You might not like it, because you prefer a narrative which allows you to make sweeping unfounded charges of racism, maligning good people serving the needs and safety of the citizens of New York; but the truth is that the policy of the NYPD as related to simple possession, is to simply tell the offender to put it out, or to confiscate and send the offender of their way.

Those who are actually arrested are arrested because when they are caught smoking (a crime which allows police to question and demand identification) they are found to have outstanding warrants, they are non-compliant with the officer, or they are actually distributing and are pled down to a lesser offense (the justice system does them a huge favor).

These are facts.

You'll have to excuse that guy, hes a racist and thinks brown people shouldn't be arrested

and if they are its definitely got to be a racist thing. It's a current liberal attack point, like

immigrants illegally entering the country should be given a bag of goodies and a thumbs up.

hillary clinton gets a free pass and a big thumbs up for her illegal email server,

but hey lets impeach and imprison trump right this minute in the middle of an endless

investigation where no charges have yet been filed and zero proof of any wrong doing has been

shown. Makes sense amirite.
