Well, I was hoping for 2019 back in New Orleans but I knew that it was a longshot. New Orleans didn't exactly kiss the NFL ring last time and I guess that it rubbed them the wrong way. They have all of these outrageous demands on hotel rates, cab rates, etc.. and supposedly not everyone was on board with adhering to them. That's how they lost 2018 to Minnesota. I don't know the story too well (at all) but that definitely plays a role.

I'm hoping for another one soon. It was a blast last time. Without sounding like a homer there isn't a city in the country better equipped to handle a major sporting event than New Orleans. Everything is within walking distance.

19 was promised to Atlanta and 20/21 were going to be tough. One year we host the bcs championship (not eligible for the SB) and the other is a major convention that comes regularly over the dates. The NFL was actually pushing pretty hard to get New Orleans in the mix the convention year but things just never made sense.

The rest you said is true though. Rumor is that after either this or maybe the next bid that the NFL is going to change the system some and you will see something like 5 cities rotate for the following ten years. Early February is peak season for all their preferred destinations and it was getting messy. Especially since they were bidding out multiple weeks of availability in case the season is extended. It's a lot of hotel/convention space to hold simply in hopes of a bid. Instead it will be "here are the minimum standards, do you accept?" potentially as opposed to making multiple cities create big holes in their calendars during peak times of multiple years in hopes of receiving it.

Absolutely should be in New Orleans every year. This shouldn't even be a debate. Minneapolis is a nice city but how much fun are you going to have there in February.

It seems everybody I know who went to all 4 Bills Super Bowls said the one in Minny was the most fun. I listen to DC radio every day, and they have also mentioned that was the most fun for them, too.

KooL-Aid, Tampa is not South Florida. I've lived in Tampa for 25 years. If you live in FL, South Fl means Miami to Ft Lauderdale. Tampa and Orlando are in the center of the state hence why it is referenced as Central FL.

They meant Miami. Not picking on you, just it's the vernacular used down here.

If USF is confusing, USF's main campus is in Tampa, but also has campuses in Lakeland, St. Petersburg, and so on. The only guess I can make on my alma mater ( my Masters is from USF ), is UCF is in Orlando, and they already have a UNF, UWF, and so on.

I did a little googling about this. Here are some explanations:

And, here is what I always thought about it:

What? The home of Apple, Yahoo!, Google, Intel, Facebook, and Hewlett-Packard is not exciting?

I suppose the fun and exciting part you are referring to, is the area where all the homeless camps are?

Exactly --- Market Street.

Really?

I've never been to Atlanta, so what is it about these domes that make them so much different?

One is very sterile at it's very best and at worst is everything people hate about domes, the other is very, very cool looking (with what appears to be a good amount of natural light even when closed) and has a retractable roof that opens like petals of a flower with cheap food and drinks. I couldn't find a pic to do the ugliness of the Georgia Dome justice. You can probably tell which is which.

There are a lot worse big cities than Atlanta. It's certainly not my favorite Super Bowl location, but a lot of it comes down to personal preference. I don't want to go to a cold Super Bowl, but went to Minneapolis. Even Detroit got one, which seems silly to me. NEW JERSEY was an interesting gamble. Some places are just more natural draws. New Orleans. Miami. LA. San Diego with a new stadium. Etc.

If they ever build a stadium and the Raiders move there, Vegas would be the ultimate SB destination...every 2-3 years.

Yeah, it would be. The Super Bowl here isn't all that different. It's about a mile from the French Quarter and all of the hotels, restaurants, and casino to the dome. That's why it hosts so many big events.

The biggest differences between New Orleans and Vegas are the culture and the intermingling (couldn't think of a better word). It used to be cuisine as well but Vegas has stepped it up in recent years. The culture is obvious. Vegas also operates in silos in some sense. Each hotel is it's own little world. A ton of people go to Vegas and never leave the place that they are staying. I wonder how it would all shake out with all of the parties and such? New Orleans has it down to a science.

New Orleans and Vegas would be my top two choices if they had a team in Vegas. Just too much entertainment to ignore. Miami is overrated to me and the stadium isn't a great walking area. I actually prefer Atlanta to Miami, but I know most would disagree.

I think that I do too. I've been to big games in both cities and it's easier to get around in Atlanta. Miami is great for the partying and the beach but the games itself are kind of isolated. They are both good options IMO but just different.

2013.

A Lot has changed.

Atlanta has come a very long way. The food scene rivals some of the best anywhere in America. Night life is great. The downtown area has undergone a vast revitalization movement. If you come back, let me know. I can point you in the right direction.

I've only been here 5 years, but I'd agree much has changed and I think the walkable area downtown is a great SB venue. Hotels and bars right there for you, and the new stadium should be awesome. Edited by Augie

Exactly. As someone who lives on the Beltline In Inman Park I can say first hand Atlanta in town living is thriving. I have been here since 79.

Did they get rid of ice storms? I think that was the major problem last time.

It was a culmination of a few things. I think people will be better prepared . Also with so many more people living in town around the stadium, travel will be easier. Edited by atlbillsfan1975
