Buffalo Barbarian
GSP wants to come back and fight Bisping! I hope they make the fight. http://www.mmafighting.com/2016/6/21/11985036/georges-st-pierre-wants-michael-bisping-title-fight-as-first-choice What?! Bisquick challenges George dope, Hopefully GSP crushes him. That said unless George is lot bigger than he used to be I think he would really struggle to stay in the 185 pound class, a lot of big boys in there. LB3
Heard this on the radio this morning. I just confirmed plans with friends to get the PPV event, too (we still will). Seems one big question is whether it's coke or PEDs. It will still be a good card, it's just disappointing because that would be a great rematch between those two. They can move the Dillashaw fight to the main card if DC doesn't want to fight a fill in. As to whether it's coke or ped's, that will be big. If it's ped's, it's a minimum 2 year ban. If it's coke, it wouldn't shock me if the UFC imposed it's own 1 year ban, if not cut him entirely (though cutting him is the least likely). Buffalo Barbarian
"Through it all, Jones denied using performance enhancing drugs."The whole situation really sucks. It really sucks, really hurts a lot. They found something in one of my samples that I have no clue what it is,” Jones said. “I don't even know how to pronounce it. I've been taking the same supplements the majority of my career.“I would never take anything that would enhance my game. Being labeled as someone who would ever cheat, it hurts me more than anything I’ve ever been through in my career.”If the failed test holds up, Jones could be facing a two-year suspension from USADA. The 28-year-old Jackson-Wink MMA standout said that he would serve his suspension if an appeal is unsuccessful.“If I do have to sit out for two years, I’ll definitely be back,” he said. “I’m already thinking about the good that can happen. I try to stay optimistic. At the end of the day, I’m a fighter, and even though I may seem broken up here, I’m not broken. I’m just really upset.”Read more at http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/Emotional-Jon-Jones-Denies-PED-Use-After-Removal-from-UFC-200-Headliner-107589#kDZb2Cslp2mglA9E.
Buffalo Barbarian
Really wish All sports would stop drug testing, it's just a racket to make money and play politics in sports. Most use anyway it's just a never ending game of beating the system. Athletes should be regulated by team doctors to maximize performance and minimize health problems. Buffalo Barbarian
"Eddie Alvarez believed, even if few others did.The Philadelphia native became the eighth lightweight titleholder in Ultimate Fighting Championship history, as he took out Rafael dos Anjos with first-round punches in the UFC Fight Night “Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez” headliner on Thursday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Dos Anjos (25-8, 14-6 UFC) absorbed a hellacious beating, until referee Herb Dean had seen enough and called for the stoppage 3:49 into round one.Alvarez (28-4, 3-1 UFC) picked his spot and did not miss. The former Bellator MMA champion whipped a wide right hook around dos Anjos’ defenses and set him on rubbery legs. The Brazilian never recovered. Alvarez swarmed with an incredible burst of power punches, briefly wound up on his back after a wild attempt at a flying knee and closed out the Kings MMA rep with a final volley of violent hooks and right uppercuts along the fence. The loss snapped dos Anjos’ five-fight winning streak and made Alvarez the first fighter in history to capture both Bellator and UFC gold." LB3
Wow! What a replacement! "I am honored to share the Octagon with the one of the greatest fighters of all time," Cormier said in an exclusive statement to MMA Fighting. "This is a very tough fight for me, and I have to fight smart and to do my best in order to win this fight. Thank you Anderson for stepping up, and thanks to Dana White and the UFC for making this happen. Now let's go do this." http://www.mmafighting.com/2016/7/8/12126556/daniel-cormier-issues-statement-on-anderson-silva-being-his-new Edited July 8, 2016 by LBSeeBallLBGetBall
Gugny
New UFC fan, here. I would genuinely appreciate if a more seasoned fan would explain (briefly is fine) any history - either between Cormier and Silva, or individually) that makes this update matchup intriguing. Thanks in advance!

I would genuinely appreciate if a more seasoned fan would explain (briefly is fine) any history - either between Cormier and Silva, or individually) that makes this update matchup intriguing. Thanks in advance! There isn't really any history between Cormier and Silva. Cormier was a heavyweight title contender until a couple years ago. He only dropped to LHW because he didn't want to fight his friend and training partner, Cain Velasquez, for the title. DC was an Olympic wrestler. Silva is one of the greatest fighters in history. His striking, and cockiness in the ring, was second to none. On paper, this is a striker vs wrestler matchup that should favor Cormier because he's built bigger and has taken hard shots from heavier opponents for years. Silva does have a chance though, because his striking is so elite. His chin has faded some though over the years. I expect a dominant DC victory, but you never know. MDH
Silva never faced the best in the world when he was in his prime and occasionally fought at LHW. So now that he's way past his prime he's going to take on the champ who also is a world class wrestler and big enough to fight at HW? This with two days notice when he hasn't been training? Ugh, not the replacement fight I wanted to see. I've always been a fan of the Spider but I don't want to pay to see him get his ass handed to him in an epic ground and pound beatdown. The only fights on the main card I'm interested in seeing are the Frankie/Aldo and Cain/Browne fights and I'm not sure those are worth my money. It was an easy buy with Jones/Cormier but now I don't know...
John from Riverside
A few of my closest friends have been MMA fans for years. They always invite me to the PPV events and I went to one a couple years ago, but wasn't really thrilled with it. I went to my buddy's house this past Saturday for the PPV and man ... I'm sold. Great backstories, great fights I was an avid boxing fan from the late 70s through the early 2000s. Once I could no longer convince myself that it was NOT just a fixed, dirty sport, I stopped watching completely and have no plans to start again. I know there are rumblings about MMA being fixed, but I hope they're not true because I think it's a great sport. Looking forward to July! My wife is a dealer at a local casino and they (used to I have NO idea why they stopped) had MMA fighting events. I would take my son and make a night of it. Loved it....we got to meet one of the champion fighters after the event and he put his belt around my son and we all took pictures. MMA is fun because anything can happen at any second. MDH
Not a fan of the Cupcake? I love watching her fight. She throws down. I like Tate but there aren't many fights in that division that excite me. Nunes isn't one of them. As a fight early on the card it's not bad, as the main event it's a major dud.

Weird thing about Tate that makes her exciting for me is that she seems to fight to the level of her competition. She normally gets into battles no matter how good/bad her opponent is, though that may have changed some since her striking has improved.
