I think this happens more often since the JPP injury last season. They will sign these immediately because if something happens they could be out big money.

I think you put your finger on it.

Kudos to Whaley and Nix. This guy was a projected guard and will so be paid a top tier LT contract.

Like him or not, Whaley has a solid, if not great draft record (minus EJ of course).

Whaley didn't draft either Glenn or EJ.

That's why I said, Kudos to Whaley AND Nix. Whaley was brought in as assistant GM and director of pro personnel in 2010. He definitely was/is responsible for alot of the scouting reports given to Nix and surely had influence.

Concede to your point.

Despite a deal not being worked out yet, this shows that Glenn is actually a guy who wants to be here imo. You see a lot of these players catch a case of the red arse, hold out, pitch a fit, or whatever. Glenn is in the building 3 days later signing his deal.

Agree, when players WANT to play here, they play better, that goes for any Job not Just football. when you love where u work at and what you do it doesnt even feel like work and your inspired to perform better.

Its a little more complicated then that

Well said.

That is a great response to many posts here as well as comments on sports radio, twitter, and articles by certain Buffalo News writers.

This is excellent news!

Signing the franchise tender that quickly could mean that they know a long-term deal is close. If he wanted to, he could hold the team hostage by not signing it...glad that isn't the case.

Agreed!!

Cordy Glenn, OT, Buffalo Bills

Tag amount: $13.706 million

Where it stands: The Bills have moved Glenn's new deal to the top of their list of priorities. They have some breathing room under the salary cap, albeit not a significant amount. Glenn's tag amount puts him into elite tackle territory for this season, which is a tad high given his career arc. But the Bills see him as an ascending cornerstone in the franchise, and they'll ultimately pay him like it. This will be a tough negotiation that might take a while. Ultimately, the deal signed by Indianapolis Colts left tackle Anthony Castonzo last offseason will likely be where this lands. That was for an average of slightly less than $11 million per season with $35 million guaranteed. Some might gripe that Glenn hasn't yet reached Pro Bowl or All-Pro status, but take a look at Castonzo's career. He hasn't, either. Despite a rough finale last season, Glenn is one of the better young left tackles in the NFL. Those guys get paid. Glenn will, too. And the Bills know it.
