While the US is focused on their own crumbling judicial system, Dallas, and BLM protests, things are afoot in Eastern Europe and Moscow. Over the past month we've seen an escalation in rhetoric, the alleged shooting of a US spy in Moscow, and both countries expelling "diplomats" in a tit for tat spat which may, or may not, have involved the possible recruitment of Russia's Baltic Fleet Commander and his chief of staff by US intelligence agents in an attempt to trigger an incident between Russia and NATO.

 

There's enough here for two le Carre novels:

 

First, and most recent, NATO and US pledge troops and tanks to Poland to thwart Russian buildup:

 

 

 

"Four battalions -– that represents the largest movement of NATO personnel since the end of the Cold War," she said.

"The United States will have a division's worth of personnel and equipment on the continent of Europe, on top of what NATO has done."

The troops will rotate through Poland plus the three small Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, acting as a tripwire to deter any Russian adventurism.

They are backed up by a "Spearhead Force" -- officially the "Very High Readiness Joint Task Force" -- which numbers about 5,000 troops ready to move within a couple of days."

Even though this is the story that's been generating headlines, the real eye-opener happened last month when a US "Diplomat" was "attacked" by FSB agents outside the embassy. According to US sources, the Russians have been harassing US "diplomats" for months leading up to the June 6th confrontation outside the US Embassy in Moscow:

 

 

"But many of the recent acts of intimidation by Russian security services have crossed the line into apparent criminality. In a series of secret memos sent back to Washington, described to me by several current and former U.S. officials who have written or read them, diplomats reported that Russian intruders had broken into their homes late at night, only to rearrange the furniture or turn on all the lights and televisions, and then leave. One diplomat reported that an intruder had defecated on his living room carpet.

In Moscow, where the harassment is most pervasive, diplomats reported slashed tires and regular harassment by traffic police. Former ambassador Michael McFaul was hounded by government-paid protesters, and intelligence personnel followed his children to school. The harassment is not new; in the first term of the Obama administration, Russian intelligence personnel broke into the house of the U.S. defense attache in Moscow and killed his dog, according to multiple former officials who read the intelligence reports."

Things came to a head on June 6th when a US "diplomat" -- allegedly a private contractor under the employ of Triple Canopy LLC (one of several private intelligence contractors employed by the Clinton run State Department to secure embassies in the middle east, including Libya) -- was tackled on the steps of the US embassy and had his bag taken by FSB agents before being allowed to enter the complex.

 

 

 

In the early morning of June 6, a uniformed Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) guard stationed outside the U.S. Embassy in Moscow attacked and beat up a U.S. diplomat who was trying to enter the compound, according to four U.S. officials who were briefed on the incident.

This previously unreported attack occurred just steps from the entrance to the U.S. Embassy complex, which is located in the Presnensky District in Moscow’s city center. After being tackled by the FSB guard, the diplomat suffered a broken shoulder, among other injuries. He was eventually able to enter the embassy and was then flown out of Russia to receive urgent medical attention, administration officials confirmed to me. He remains outside of Russia.

The attack caused a diplomatic episode behind the scenes that has not surfaced until now. The State Department in Washington called in Russian Ambassador Sergey I. Kislyak to complain about the incident, an administration official said.

The motive for the attack remains unclear. One U.S. official told me that the diplomat was seeking refuge in the embassy complex to avoid being detained by the Russian intelligence services. A different U.S. official told me the diplomat may have been working as a spy in Russia under what’s known as “diplomatic cover,” which means he was pretending to be a State Department employee.

Spokesmen for the both the State Department and the CIA declined to comment on the incident or whether or not the diplomat was in fact an undercover U.S. spy.

But of course, the US version of the events do not align with the Russian version. In fact, sources within both governments have wildly different accounts of the actual incident and the cause. According to Sorcha Faal (a site run allegedly by US Naval Intelligence or the FSB itself depending on who you ask), the attack was the culmination of a Russian sting operation designed to root out a mole in their Baltic Fleet:

 

"An intriguing Federal Security Service (FSB) report circulating in the Kremlin today states that the Commander of the Baltic Fleet, Viktor Kravchuk, and the Fleet’s Chief of Staff, Sergey Popov, were both dismissed from their posts after they were found to have violated numerous Federation national security regulations after documents relating to their mission were found in the possession of a Hillary Clinton spy who was shot and wounded by FSB counterintelligence agents a little over a fortnight ago.

 

According to this report, FSB counterintelligence agents operating in the Kaliningrad Oblast last month “detected/discovered” a serious anomaly relating to a passport used by private computer contractor working at the Baltic Fleet’s main base of operations located in Baltiysk.

This private computer contractor, this report continues, was employed by the Moscow based international computer company ABBYY whose contract with the Ministry of Defense (MoD) was for the converting of paper documents into searchable electronic files for former Baltic Fleet retired service personal.

 

Upon the FSB discovery of the anomalies relating to this computer contractor, this report notes, all ABBYY workers in Baltiysk were flown back to Moscow on 5 June as part of a “ruse/disguise” operation and put under surveillance—but on the morning of 6 June, the suspected contractor drove from his Moscow apartment, and when he was two blocks from the US Embassy, in the Arbat District, he abandoned his vehicle in the roadway and was surrounded by 5 American private security contractors.

 

As this computer contractor and his surrounding guards neared the US Embassy, this report continues, FSB security officers attempted to detain him when one of the American private security contractors attempted to “withdrawal/take loose” a concealed weapon causing one FSB agent to fire his weapon."

Turns out, as crazy as this may sound, there is some fire behind that smoke as Russian Defense minister Sergey Popov was relieved of his command just days following the events on the 6th:

 

"Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has dismissed Commander of the Baltic Fleet Viktor Kravchuk and the Fleet’s Chief of Staff Sergey Popov for combat training deficiencies, as well as for distortion of the real state of affairs in reports, the Defense Ministry’s press service reported on Wednesday."

With disinformation, propaganda, and outright lies coming from both sides about these events there is not much we can do but speculate, which can get scary fast. Immediately following the scuffle, Russia not only sacked its commanding officer in the Baltic Fleet and several flag officers, Putin also made it public that he was willing to turn on all Russian transponders flying in the Baltic region if NATO were to match his efforts -- a move that one could conclude was an effort on Russia's part to increase transparency in the area of Russian military operations.

But why make that offer at that moment, several weeks after allegedly outing a US mole in MoD?

 

If it's true that the US Diplomat was indeed working for Triple Canopy (a company Clinton sanctioned as SecState to handle intelligence work and security at various embassies after pushing laws against such practices in relation to Blackwater as a US Senator -- yet another HRC contradiction) and had infiltrated the Russian MoD, he could could have been working with assets to trigger some sort of Russian provocation in the region. It's speculation, of course, but it seems to track in light of the Russian actions taken immediately after the incident in Moscow.

 

The fallout continues this week as both sides are now expelling diplomats in a tit for tat escalation of political rhetoric and military buildup:

I read elsewhere that Putin even somewhat disappeared for over 6 days unexpectedly. Not sure if there was anything to it or if he was just sick

 

And Putin also schooled some foreign media members basically telling them they are idiots and the world is heading towards ww3 but no one is paying attention or asking why.

 

On my phone so I just searched for what appears to be a similar story. Take it for what it's worth

I sometimes get to work with some crazy people. Fun crazy, but crazy. We inevitably become fast friends. Last week one such person told me Putin was off planet. No reasons were given, though there was mention of an ongoing shooting war in Antarctica.

I would trust Putin more than Obama or Clinton to be our president. He seems to want to do what's best for russia

15 years ago I would never have agreed with you. As things continue to be sabotaged here Russia may be a safer place.
