19. Bills: Reggie Ragland, ILB, Alabama. Rex Ryan loves sure tacklers, and Ragland is as good as they get. We don’t dismiss Paxton Lynch as a possibility, but if it’s defense, then Ragland is a fine choice.

This isn't mock draft predicting who each team will pick on Thursday night. No, these are the players each of the 31 teams should pick. While many of the picks are the same, there are some differences, like the Denver Broncos taking Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg.

BUF.png19. Buffalo Bills

Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson: I don't love Lawson's game like a lot of guys do, but the Bills have a major need at end and he has talent. They have to amp up their pass rush, and he has the tools to do that. It just might take some time.

2016 NFL Draft: Final Top 300 Big Board

By: Jon Ledyard

Couple notes on my final big board of the 2016 NFL draft season . . .

*TE Tyler Higbee has been removed from my board thanks to an ongoing legal incident. He was my No. 1 tight end with a second round grade. EDGE Shawn Oakman is off my board as well, but that occurred before he was ever arrested for sexual assault.

**Missouri Western CB Mike Jordan was accidentally left off this list. He should be at No. 165.

Greg Cosell: "There's a major learning curve" (11:51)

Greg Cosell, Executive Producer for NFL Matchup and Sr. Producer at NFL Films joined The John Murphy Show to discuss the top QB, linebacker, and defensive linemen prospects in this year's draft and his take on why a majority of first round picks aren't 16-game starters in their rookie year.

In his annual Mock Draft, Mayock selects Robert Nkemdiche for the Bills at #19.

I'm trying to talk myself into Jarran Reed at 19, but it just isn't happening.

When I watch him, I don't see a versatile player; I see a pure run-stuffer. Sure, he can line up anywhere along the line, but he's a 2-gap player, a space-eater. He's darn good at that, but I don't believe that's the best use of the 19th overall pick...not when there are guys available that can play that role and more along the DL. For example, I've beaten the drum for Chris Jones pretty heavily, and I think he's close to the same level of run defender as Reed, and can also line up anywhere. The difference is that he can play in a 1-gap scheme as well, and can collapse the pocket on passing plays. I don't see much of Reed doing that.

If I want a guy that can eat space and 2-gap, I can get him later. Kenny Clark can eat space and give you more versatility, and he's probably a round 2 pick. Ditto for Austin Johnson, who's a day 2 pick.

DJ Reader and Vincent Valentine are day 3 picks, and both are classic 0-tech players--less flexibility to move them around, but equally good at eating up blockers.

I'm not going to get too worked up until he's announced as the pick, but I'm not enthused about him at 19.

versatility would be the key at 19. not supreme ability as the nose.

The other thing that bothers me is that the Reed pick at 19 would be very out of character for a Rex-coached team. If you look at the high picks the Jets spent on DLmen when Rex was there, they weren't spent on 2-gap, run-stuffing types; they were spent on thick-bodied, long-limbed guys that were disruptive against the run and the pass, scheme-diverse, and able to play in a 1-gap or 2-gap, even or odd front. That's not Reed. That description matches guys like Jones, Vernon Butler, Robert Nkemdiche, and the 2 Clemson kids.

Jones is the match

The Dolphins have been heavily rumored to be interested in trading up for Elliott, and we know the Browns are willing to move down for more picks. Cleveland, in fact, trades down twice.

BUF.png19. Buffalo Bills

Robert Nkemdiche, DE, Mississippi: Nkemdiche is a destroyer on the defensive line. Buffalo needs another one of those with Mario Williams having left town. Put him next to Marcel Dareus and let him go to work.

The NFL Draft has come a long way in 50 years, from a 17-round, one-day marathon conducted over the phone, to a three-day made-for-TV extravaganza. The debate over the No. 1 QB? Now, that's an ageless topic.

Is Northwestern's Dean Lowry a defensive gem hidden by a deep DE class?

Yes. Yes he is.

Absolutely weird body composition. 6'6", 290 with 31" arms but watch him against Nebraska for a taste of what his best can give you. 6 TFL's in that game alone. He has the potential to be a menace.

Least surprising news on the day before the draft. Laremy Tunsil's stepfather is suing him. Tunsil basically kicked **** out of him for beating his mother and the coward is grabbing for his signing bonus.

Doug Whaley expected to join @SalSports coming up next! Hear the GM on his draft day process, and what he expects from the draft tonight.

Mel must have started blazing already this morning....

Corey Coleman/Eli Apple would make the Bills accountable for my TV ending up on the lawn.

Doctson is the best WR in this draft, Alexander is probably a better CB then Apple.

@DraftCampbell

Per sources the #Bills won't take #OleMiss DL Robert Nkemdiche. I think the #Titans are serious about trading up: http://www.walterfootball.com/nfldraftrumormill.php

A lot of mock drafts have projected the Buffalo Bills to take Ole Miss defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche. In speaking with sources, the Bills have ruled out Nkemdiche, and he isn't a finalist for their first-round pick. Buffalo is keying in on a defender for the front seven in the first round. The priority to add more defensive talent will carry over into the second night as well.

Casserly mock 6.0: Saints land Lynch

The Saints decide to snag the heir apparent for Drew Brees in Charley Casserly's final mock draft. See his full forecast for the first round.

Pick No. 19
BUF.png
Noah Spence DE Eastern Kentucky
In their transition to a 34 defense they get a pass rusher at OLB.
Noah Spence is undoubtedly a first-round talent, but as sometimes happens to great college players, their draft stock takes a hit due to dreaded 'off-field issues.'

Save this final mock draft for later, when it all goes to hell after the first two picks. Here's a final best guess of how the first round shakes out.

BUF.png19. Buffalo Bills

Reggie Ragland, LB, Alabama: They have some age at the position (Manny Lawson) and they need help at the other spots. Ragland can step in and play right away and be the thumper in the run game.

@RapSheet

According to seven teams, #Bama LB Reggie Ragland's enlarged aorta is not expected to alter his football career. He just must watch it close

@JoeBuscaglia

My FINAL mock draft, going to the #Bills 2nd pick, and even taking a guess at all their picks this year. All here: https://t.co/nJF91pMy0g

19) Bills2_1427903793815_15962939_ver1.0.gif - LB Darron Lee, Ohio State

- And here it is, the Bills land the guy they've had an eye on throughout the draft process. They also really like Shaq Lawson, Sheldon Rankins, Jarran Reed, and even the hard-hitting safety Karl Joseph. However, with a crying need at weakside linebacker and not a lot of depth to the draft class, Lee would come in and be a three-down player immediately for the Bills. Lee is super athletic and has the ability in coverage that the Bills are looking for -- and the type of ability that fits well into Rex Ryan's defensive scheme. Despite the interest in Jarran Reed, defensive line is a deep class and one they can wait on in the second round. If they do miss out on all three of Lawson, Rankins, and Lee, I could certainly see them trading down and taking a defensive lineman, or Karl Joseph with their first pick in the late first round or early second round. It's a fluid situation, but they love Darron Lee.

giphy.gif

49) Bills2_1427903793815_15962939_ver1.0.gif - DL Bronson Kaufusi, BYU

- With the second wave of quarterbacks gone, the Bills take a player in Bronson Kaufusi who screams "versatility" -- and that's just what they're after. Kaufusi can rush the passer, he can play five-technique defensive end, he can play a little outside linebacker in the Manny Lawson role that they have set up... he can do a little bit of everything. He's a bit of an older prospect (turning 25), but is seemingly one who can contribute right away. He plays a bit too high at times, but the combination of size (6-foot-6, 285-pounds), length, strength, speed, and movement ability makes him a great addition. And, the Bills are interested in him, having had him in for a pre-draft visit. See for yourself:

giphy.gif

Later Bills picks:

3rd Round, 80th overall - QB Cardale Jones, Ohio State

4th Round, 117th overall - LB Joe Schobert, Wisconsin

4th Round, 139th overall - WR Kolby Listenbee, TCU

5th Round, 156th overall - CB/S Deiondre' Hall, Northern Iowa

6th Round, 192nd overall - OT Kyle Murphy, Stanford

6th Round, 218th overall - LB Antonio Morrison, Florida

Also, Anthony Davis RT SF may be a Bill before the weekend is out. That could just be wishful thinking though.

I hadn't even thought of that. I would love it if we at least looked into it. Nothing coud happen til he's reinstated though, so couldn't be this weekend

Mock #NFLDraft Version One: Hoping to get the first pick right http://usat.ly/23aLCCK

ChKHQTIWkAUTXcL.jpg

For the last few months we have been bringing you the mock drafts from experts all over the internet. We have analyzed, sometimes even criticized some suggestions.

With that in mind, it would seem unfair not to provide a mock draft of my own, one that can be equally ridiculed by all when the final selections are made and it turns out half my suggested picks have failed to be taken after all.

This mock is not about what I would do with the pick if I was the team’s general manager, rather what I believe each team will do, given all the information we have filtered through here at Draft Wire since the college football season ended.

Having said all that, I offer you my suggestions – flame away:

mock-draft-1.png?w=1000&h=2589

Armed with last-minute intel from scouts and GMs across the league, Jason La Canfora unveils his one and only mock draft. It's packed with some first-round trades, including the Saints grabbing a potential successor to Drew Brees.

BUF.png19. Buffalo Bills

Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson: They're going to do defense with this pick, and someone on the edge almost certainly from what I hear. They badly need hope on the pass rush and Rex Ryan knows the Clemson program very well from his son being on the team. Perhaps it's DE Kevin Dodd as well, from Clemson. If the off-field risk doesn't scare them too much, Noah Spence could be the pick. This is one of very few teams where I legit hear Spence is in play.

BN Blitz: A final, #Bills-centric mock draft covering all eight pick: https://t.co/nEeQdS2qOP

So, instead of subjecting you to one final mock draft – cheap plug: that's in Thursday's print and web editions of The Buffalo News – here is a look at just eight draft picks – all of which belong to the Buffalo Bills.

Round 1 - Pick 19, Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson: I'm sticking with my final projection. Lawson seems like a perfect fit. The big question is, will he be there?

Round 2 - Pick 49, Braxton Miller, WR, Ohio State: Bills Director of Player Personnel Jim Monos said Miller is ready to play as a rookie, and the versatility he could provide as receiver, runner and potentially even as a passer has to be intriguing to offensive coordinator Greg Roman.

Round 3 - Pick 80, Jaylon Smith, OLB, Notre Dame: This is largely dependent on the report given to General Manager Doug Whaley from the team's medical staff. If it's favorable – as in, Smith is projected to make a full recovery – the chance to get him in the third round shouldn't be passed up. No, he won't help as a rookie, but the potential payoff is huge.

This would be great!
