Anyone use Google Fiber?

I live in Salt Lake City, and Google just announced it's coming here. I'm happy about it since I still use DSL (15-20 Mb/s) and won't do the Comcast thing, but I just wanted to see if anyone here lives where it's available and has any experience with it, both from a price and performance standpoint.

I've said it before. I've never had the tiniest bit of trouble with anything Verizon related. Service, customer support, nothing. I count myself as very fortunate

No, I'm stuck with Verizon's inconsistent service.

Must be why my intertubes are clogged...

No kidding. Almost sorry I asked.

Seriously tho.

Google Fiber is hard to judge right now. According to their map (https://fiber.google.com/newcities/) it's only available in 3 cities with 4 more planned (Salt Lake among the 4 planned).

Sounds great if it works as advertised. But understand that this is a new technology/service and you will be a paying guinea pig as they work out the bugs

Right, but the point was that there are three other cities already going, so I was wondering what the experience thus far has been.

As big as Google is (which may end up being a problem), it is the solution to the other bastard ISP's price gouging, and data caps. Since Google is so entrenched in the internet, it has a vested interest in people actually utilizing the internet for any purpose rather than limiting your access and charging a premium.

Are there any data caps on my internet connection?

No way! We want you to use and enjoy your broadband or gigabit connections. There are no caps or limits to the amount of data you can send or receive.

There needs to be competition, I only wish it would come to Buffalo. It'll be a looooong time before that ever happens though.
