billsgpr88
I follow the team pretty closely, but haven't seen any info on this. Injury, behavioural issues?
YoloinOhio
Wondered same thing last week. They traded a 4th rounder for him and he looked really good on camp. He isn't listed on injury report. Edited September 14, 2014 by YoloinOhio
26CornerBlitz
Spiller, Jackson, and Dixon are already active. No need for a 4th RB, especially when you also have Summers at FB.
Numark3
He is the 4th RB
Rockinon
How about, because we all ready have 3 RBs active.

FireChan
They are saving him to win the starting job week 7.
Doc
Might have to do with compensation due to the Eagles if he hits performance incentives. And there being 3 other good RBs.
MDH
Simple answer is because Dixon is the better short yardage back so he gets the nod as RB3.
NoSaint
Simple answer is because Dixon is the better short yardage back so he gets the nod as RB3. Dixons a special teamer - which is probably the real answer.

NoSaint
So why did we bive up a 4 the rnd pick for him Long term building? Contingency plans? Not only will next years 4 not help us today, there's a good chance he'd be inactive in a year too. Brown is likely our 3rd back but because he's not a special teamer they'd rather save him for injury and figure Dixon can finish out a game in an emergency. Very few teams have 5 out of 45 active players be rbs Edited September 14, 2014 by NoSaint
Bangarang
Depth...? You don't give up a 4th for a RB to make him inactive every week. The only logical explanation for me is Whaley doesn't plan on keeping Spiller and Brown is his replacement next year.

Who knows if spiller will work out for us long term, who knows when Fred hits the wall.... And if either gets nicked up we have a guy. The active/inactive is just a matter of gameday roster building. NoSaint
Again, I think he's either a replacement for CJ or Fred. And I think many here forget there's a good chance that could be for weeks 7-12 if one sprains an ankle
