Bortles should be a Bill

Recommended Posts

We should have traded up for Bortles;

"But Bortles did better than all right on his second possession, flashing some of the ability that made him the third overall pick in the draft. On first down from his own 2-yard line, Bortles lofted a pass down the left sideline to Mike Brown, dropping it over the defensive back for a 25-yard gain."

He also says what a good QB should say;

"I think it was all right," Bortles said of his performance. "I could have done a lot of things better. That’s part of it -- learn from my mistakes and try to improve."http://espn.go.com/blog/jacksonville-jaguars/post/_/id/7038/blake-bortles-starting-to-show-consistency

This is what EJ says about his performance;

“I thought I did a pretty good job when I was in,” Manuel said. “I thought the first unit, we did what we needed to do." http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/manuel-has-a-lackluster-start-before-giving-way-to-tuel-in-preseason-opener-20140804?two-bills-drive

I see you conveniently left out these quotes:

"...and had another pass batted down at the line of scrimmage."

"There were negative plays, too. There was a sack in which he held the ball too long. He called the wrong protections on a couple plays, and he hesitated on a deep pass that was nearly intercepted by safety Sherrod Martin."

See, I can cherry pick quotes too.

I find it funny that you say the Bills "should have traded up", who exactly were they going to trade with?

I don't know about Bortles and how we might have traded up to get him, but the only Bills QB that played reasonably well was Tuel. It is way too early to panic with EJ and Lewis, but I would have liked to see both play better. Lewis In my opinion looked particularly bad. He needs to learn when to throw the fastball and when to take a little off. Most of his misses were totally uncatchable balls because he just put too much on them. I have seen that before from him, so hopefully someone will work with him on that. I am still optimistic about this team and it was only the first pre-season game, but damn it did look awfully familiar. Close game in the 4th Quarter, then someone makes a big mistake and the Bills find a way to lose again. Sorry, but it is like watching the same movie over and over again week in and week out. I am ready for a new movie.

Did you say to yourself "how can I make the worst thread ever?", because it worked.

Yeah and we should have drafted Tom Brady in the 5th round the year he came out and Joe Montana in the 2nd (or even in the 1st would have been justifiable IF a lot of key things would have happened the same way except they were different).

This type of woulda/coulda/shoulda is pretty worthless as a consideration.
