PromoTheRobot
How many of you heard of the Cassini spacecraft or Huygens Titan probe? Cassinin is currently orbiting planet Saturn taking some spectacular photos. But even bigger news comes in 3 days when teh Huygens probe descends to the surface of the moon Titan. It will be the furthest landing from Earth ever attempted. If successful, we will not only get information on the atmosphere of Titan, (fyi: it's the only moon in the solar system with a significant atmosphere) but we may also get photos from the surface. Titan is of great interest to scientists because it appears to be loaded with hydrocarbons, and may even have oceans of liquid propane! Get my grill!!! for info: http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/home/index.cfm PTR

John Adams
What if it lands right in one of those oceans? 200512[/snapback] They hope it does. The probe will float for a while before going under. If this thing works, it will be a pretty amazing mission.

Zona
Very nice. I love this kind of geeky stuff. Like the Mars Rover still broadcasting pictures after more than a year on the Martian Surface. The Rover was expected to last for 30 days... Thats value for your money there... Also, isnt there supposed to be an attempt to blow up a comet this summer? I heard a tidbit about it on the radio, but not the details of the story. Anyone know more about it?

The Tomcat
We are all decendants from matter that crashed here millions of years ago. Go to NASA.com and subscribe to their E-Mail service. They tell you when meteor showers ,comets etc are coming....."very cool me thinks" Anyone who thinks space exploration is a waste should be shot. (not really, just poking fun) also...a little known fact......We have 99% of the same dna as a fly....we are all closely related, and I don't just mean people. It is estimated that we have between 97-99% dna as a chimpanzee. That does not take into consideration junk DNA which makes up over 95% of our DNA. Without oxygen that stuff would not be flammable though

ch19079
interesting. but tell me this scientist man... how come scientists still cant prove a black hole exists. even if they get nice pics like this. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...j8u6_photo0&e=8 ive always been told black wholes are a theory, but can not be scientificaly proven....
