Rian Lindell's weak leg

How many teams in the NFL won't even attempt a 50 yard field goal? It seems Lindell doesn't have the leg for it anymore.

I know he's 13/14 on the season but if he can't even kick a 50 yarder anymore...yikes.

There are several kickers in the league that have 60 yard field goal range. It sucks that Lindell can't even kick us a 50 yarder when we need it.

He can't even make it into the end zone on kickoffs either...I hope the Bills address this at some point.

When the D is playing well, you don't chance giving them the ball on the 40. You drop it in the 20 and trust your D.

Please don't bring up kickoffs... that experiment is over.

He kicked four field goals (32, 34, 41 and 19 yards) and the Bills beat the Dolphins. Are we blaming Lindell because there was a kickoff run back for a TD? His kickoffs against Miami were to the 0, -3, 4, -1 and 10 yard lines (the one kicked to the 4 was run back). Other than the run back, the Miami starting positions were between the 20 and 30 yard lines. That seems pretty typical. We all know that Lindell is getting a little older and will be replaced soon, but I don't get the weak leg talk at this point in the season.

Carpenter missed a 50 yard FG. I guess he has a weak leg also.

who said he can't kick a 50+ yard FG? Just because he hasn't had the opportunity to kick one this year, doesn't mean he can't do it. I would be stunned if he doesn't still have the leg for a 53-yarder, which is all one can reasonably expect out of an NFL kicker.

The worry is we've had plenty of shots and opted to pass. Or staff also carried the KOS for an extended period. It seems those that see him daily are worried about leg strength. I like that he's money inside 40 or so but it'd be nice to have 10 yards more leg.

Can't have pro bowlers at every position though.

I'm content with Lindell because of his sure-footed accuracy on all kicks within his (limited) range, assuming that no one with a bigger leg and comparable accuracy becomes available.

It is a position we need to examine during the off-season, however.

Yeah. He might not be the best we can do, but he is the best we can do RIGHT NOW.

Every thread we talk about a player we get into these answers (choice also today) - is anyone actually advocating change right now? I'm always referencing at the end of the season you look at options when I chime in

i recall only one time this year when we passed on a long FG, and that was in OT against Arizona, and that had more to do with the fact that a miss would have given the cards outcome-determinative field position.

From the 36 just two days ago. That's a 53 yarder that comes to mind

His long is 42- you think weve made it this far without drives stopping between 42 and say the low 50s? We punt there.

exactly how many 50 yarders have we passed up ? He can make long kicks and he's good in the clutch. He's just not very good on kick offs they aren't short but they aren't booming high kicks or deep inthe endzone despite moving the kick up we are one of the few teams who do not get touchbacks

In this thread alone 2 have been passed on including a potential game winner within the last month or so. I like that he's reliable at what he does, but one day that range will bite us.

Our coach and gm see the issue, just not an easy upgrade.
