FIRE GEORGE EDWARDS!!!!

But we are mostly playing 4-3 now anyway.....so having another DC step in that already is on the team and knows the players isn't that much of a adjustment.

Right. So other than just being able to say "Edwards is gone", nothing changes. And if they're running mostly Stache schematics anyway, I wouldn't expect any sudden improvement. The players wouldn't be doing anything different. And I doubt they'd be in any better positions to succeed if we would just keep running basically what we've been running.

I fully understand why firing Edwards would be a popular move. I just doubt it's practical at this point in the season given the players we have and the schemes they've been running wouldn't change much, if at all.

GO BILLS!!!

He is going to stay for the rest of the season sadly. But if he is not fired the Monday after the season ends I will lose all faith in this organization. On paper there is talent to at the worst be a mid level defense. The secondary has talent (Byrd, Wilson, Williams, Florence, McGee, and McKelvin aren't a bad bunch) and the front 7 isn't completely devoid of talent either (Dareus, Edwards, Barnett, Kyle Williams, Sheppard are all good to solid players even with big Kyle hurt they aren't devoid of talent)

The defense is playing way below their talent level is indicating. And that is on the coaching staff. I wouldn't put Wanny in charge either, I think that the best thing to do would be is to bring in an experienced 3-4 guy and continue to invest draft choices into the defense.

Hey fellow Bills fans. I'm new. Been a Bills fan since the Flutie/Johnson era. In other words the only taste of playoffs I've had in my day was the music city miracle and the Miami game when Moulds set the post season yardage record. In other words, my entire time as a fan has been pure misery haha. I have barely missed a snap since then though. Ok, on to the topic:

The offseason move that is desperately needed is acquiring a defensive guru as our new coordinator. We've got Chan on the offensive side and for the most part we have been able to move the ball this year. The only problem is we couldn't stop an elite high school offense (obviously an exaggeration). Pass rush is by far this team's biggest problem which has me questioning the coaching staff. Look at what Maybin has done away from this Bills staff (I think we could use a sack specialist this year!). We clearly don't know how to effectively develop and utilize pass rushers.

We need a 3-4 guru on the defensive side of the ball. Somebody like a Rob Ryan or a topic that might be taboo around here, Wade Phillips. Those 2 likely aren't available but we need somebody with a proven record in a 3-4 defense. I have faith in Chan with the "O" but the "D" needs new leadership and direction. I think this could fix a lot of our problems.

We only need a 3-4 specialist if we stay with the 3-4. I'm not sure we should. The weakest area of our defense is at the LB position. Our strongest area is at D Tackle (Williams & Dareus) Let's pay a defense where both of those guys get on the field at the same time in positions that enable them to excell.

We have some players playing OLB (Kelsay, s Johnson) who would be served as DEnds. They won't be stars there, but they could be passable. Neither is a star pass rusher, which is a problem. We do need pass rushers.

I say we need a coordinator who will play a 4-3, not a 3-4.

Compare this to Green Bay. A couple of years ago, they are having tremendous problems on D and they go out and hire Dom Capers, an acknowledged master of the 3-4. Two years later, they win a Super Bowl. Of course, we don't have the resources of a big city market like Green Bay . . .

Green Bay doesn't have an individual owner...

I think this franchise should fire George Edwards, and don't let the guy even take the field in the 2nd half. Send the rest of the team a strong message that losing is no longer tolerated, and if you can't do your job, you'll be sent packing in a way that the whole league will see.

What if they're winning?

You just joined and you were able to get BuffaloBlizzard as a username?

That's surprising to me.

We would normally duct tape you to the goalposts but I'm not sure Scott allows that anymore.

Welcome aboard.

And yes, I would guess that most here would agree with you that we need a different defensive coaching staff.

Yeah, no Goalposting. Read the TSW rules; I may not be any any on here but the new guy needs to look at them too... see here

Anyway, I think it'll be more this hybrid stuff for a while and only switch when the fad changes back to4-3.

Agreed. It is simply moronic to play guys physically unable to play LB at that position just for shins and grits. Seriously though, good luck talking Buddy into officially going back to the 4-3.

And who didn't call the Jets marching down the field and scoring the go-ahead TD even though the defense had actually played halfway decent throughout the game? It was like deja-vu/nightmare that we have seen in oh so many games.

You just KNEW it was going to happen, I don't care how f-in die hard of a fan you are. We all knew it was going to happen with THAT defense...and it did.

That is exactly how I felt. My girlfriend was saying "be positive, be positive," but I just knew they would collapse. It f-----g sucks.

Something needs to change on the defensive side of the ball. Like many here have said, they need to put the players in position to succeed.

We don't have any linebackers worth a damn. We have what seems like all DT's and no DE's on the team.

S. Johnson, Troup (extreme disappointment), Dwan, Kelsay, Carrington, Dareus, Heard...I see no pass rushers there. Losing Kyle Williams hurts bad, he was a beast last year.

&@#% Go Bills...
