Lee Evans is making 8 and a half mil next year. That's too much, in my opinion. While, I wouldn't cut him, I say we trade him to a contending team. That money would be better spent in the trenches.

Or we dump the slug and pick up an un-drafted free agent that outperforms him for $375,000/yr.

Someone out of the O-line dance will probably be cut. Urbik, Wrotto, Pears, Rhinehart constitutes the "list", so one, maybe two of these guys will get a thanks for the memories letter sometime in the offseason. If I were to guess, Pears and Rhinehart are the likely goners! The John McCargo sentiment is strong, and I'm inclined to agree with that one. Does Ashton Youboty have a place on this team, going forward? I think NOT, so he is liable to be sent on his way. Levi Brown? Brian Brohm, after yesterday? Jon Corto? Jaruu Caulcrick? Aaron Maybin, when his Head Coach said his place on the team is tenuious. Re-sign Whitner? Again, the Head Coach said his place on the team is.... you guessed it, tenuious!! Stroud might be scheme sensitive IF the Bills go back to a 4-3 defense (DT). Otherwise, yes, he can take a hike too!

Keep Kelsay. He's better than the guys behind him, cut the guys behind him, and sign/draft a guy to put in front of him.

You people wanting to get rid of all of our ok players instead of all of our bad players are absolutely nutty.

Keep the solid guys, get rid of the bad guys, put good guys in front of the solid guys. Depth is very important.

Cut List

Stroud

Maybin

McCargo

Green ( The RT )

Meridith

Then In FA I pick up a Stud LB and Tight end, and a couple depth players.

In Draft I go

1st pick Hopefully trade down and get an additional 3rd.

1st- DE

2nd - LB

3rd - LB

3rd - Offensive Tackle

4th - DE

4th - DT

5th - Offensive Tackle

6th - DT

7th - Best Avaliable

Amen here, Green is definately cut but the trade down idea is one I very much like. Arizona and Washington are two teams who will be desperate for a QB. Get some real value with this pick by parlaying it into several picks.

So cut cut cut.

Cut Evans, cut Stroud... So we can use the money elsewhere. HAHAHAHAH... We really broke the bank last year. Oh wait.

Bills have whacked money and dumped salary by getting rid of players. Name the big time player we brought in to replace any of the guys we got rid of? The Bills were 25 million under the supposed cap. Do you think the Bills are going to open the check book up and sign some players? NO! Keep dreaming. It is not going to happen. So wave good bye to Donte Whitner. 25 years old. Because why? Because "WE" can save 2 million dollars that we wont spend anywhere else. Is Whitner amazing? No. Is he solid. Yes. How many holes do the fans want to create? This strategy of creating holes by dumping players has worked so well we will be drafting 3rd. congrats! So yeah. Lets cut Evans, let Donte leave... So we can draft a defensive back or Wide Receiver. Still have the same crap front 7 and the same crap offensive line. Still have the same mediocre QB. But yeah. Lets whack away and cut the few half decent players we have. We have so many to begin with. Oh wait. Thats right. New England and the Jets just embarassed us. Espn announcers laughing at us for that performance yesterday on SportCenter. They didnt need Sanchez. They didnt need Sanchez to play becasue they knew their backups would destroy the Buffalo Bills.

So the saving money to spend later strategy is a joke. Cheer for another team that actually employs that strategy if you are going to keep saying I would rather save the money. First of all. It is not your money. Is Ralph going to write you a check to go buy some drapes at Walmart? No. Sorry.. Is Ralph going to lower your tix prices because he spent less? Nope. Saved 25 million and had you guys cheering him on.

So can we leave Lee Evans alone and maybe embrace Donte Whitner. Unline most of the rest of the players in the NFL they actually want to play in Buffalo. They are actually wanting to stay and try and right the ship. They are not the Superstars that you want them to be. They are good football players and like I mentioned. We dont have very many good football players.

First of all...I don't remember reading any posts that suggested we cut Lee Evans. There has been some trade speculation, but no talk of cutting him to my knowledge. Personally, I would entertain any trade offers at this point, regardless of the player. The Whitner issue is a different story. He has been an average player in the NFL, and wants to be paid like he is one of the better safeties in the league. If he is not willing to be a little more realistic with his asking price, then we have George Wilson waiting in the wings to take over his position. I don't see much of a drop-off in talent there. So you can "embrace" all of the players that you want. I will be in favor of cutting/trading any player who does not fit into our future plans.

Dude...Kelsey is terrible. Horrible in coverage, horrible against the run, cannot shed blocks. Did you actually watch him play this season? We can bring in players via free agency or the draft to add depth to our linebacker corps. Why keep the dead weight?

Stroud, McCargo, Kelsey, & Maybin come to mind for me

Kelsay got too much money...He is not getting cut. Plus they need to figure a way to put him back as a DE, not as a LB defending a TE in space.

Why is it that all these cut lists have only players on defense. What has the offense done to have all the starters be retained. I believe Parrish will be gone due to Nelson, and Jones developing. I am also not sold on Hangartner.

The offseason starts today for the Bills. The mock drafts are already flowing and fights over who the Bills need to add via the draft and free agency have already begun. But before the Bills front office can go out filling holes and working to improve the team it has to first fully evaluate the roster it already has. Part of that process is cutting the dead weight and moving on. So who would you cut from the Bills who is under contract for 2011?

Interesting thought question.

Ladies and gentlemen, for your cutting pleasure, I present to you the Bills Roster, alphabetized including IR.

Either bold the ones you keep, or italicize/line out the ones you cut.

I hope the tabulating works - I read "help" and changed my text editor.

I will have the bad form to reply to my own post in order to leave an un-edited version for my buds on TBD.

Enjoy!

Bold = Keep

Struck out = Gone

Italics = see what else is out there

Normal = need more information/evaluation

Most rookies I know nothing about got "normal"

Brohm. He's not a bad QB. Gailey said it: if he had a lot more experience, the speed of the game wouldn't be too much for him.

He's the backup. He's not going to get the playing experience he needs to be able to come in and play as the backup. Catch-22.

Do a Belicheck: Bring in late rounders and UDFA and let them play off against Levi Brown. Put the best on the roster and the 2nd best on the practice squad.

Chandler. Shawn Nelson. Stupar. Bring in a real tight end. Bring in a lot of UDFA TE if you like, and see if one sticks.

Ellison, McCargo, Woods.

A lot of DL on the team, I would want to see what else is available and cut or keep on that basis.

There are only 28 players I'm sure I want to bring into training camp (bold) and I don't think they all make the roster.

Flame on!

Of the known players on the Bills roster, the Bills could cut all of the following and be no worse for the wear. They save some money here and there (Evans, Stroud, McGee, Parrish, Whitner) and give up on the ones that have not shown anything (Maybin, McCargo and Nelson). Nelson just p!ssed away another season. Parrish and McGee are the only ones I could make an exception for. But Parrish never did anything explosive on offense. WRs are a dime a dozen. Why pay for one that is too small and has never made an explosive play on offense in six years, not one game breaking play and explosive plays are the only reason you keep a Smurf around. Besides we have a new Smurf that can't make an explosive play on offense name of CJ. McGee has always been overrated by this board as a DB and he is showing a lot of wear and tear and it is time to give Ashton Y playing time. Dump Brohm, and I was one of those hoping he could find it under Chan, a decent vet QB will be available sometime this offseason and I'd grab them to back up Fitz. Hopefully Orton or Shaun Hill. If the guys below were not on our team this year I bet our record would have been about 4-12.

To truly rebuild, just like when a new manager comes in to take over a store with poor results, you need to figure out 2 things. The first, and most important thing, IMHO, is figuring out who needs to get off the bus. Basically the people who are dragging everyone else down. Bills have no shortage of these type of players. Then they need to figure out who they want on the bus.

So, the first thing to do is to get the wrong people off the bus and replace them by letting the right people on the bus.
