Attached is an excerpt about Danny's Pro chances from the Sporting News.

"South Dakota State DE Danny Batten is a small-school prospect who is causing a lot of chatter. Batten (6'2 3/4, 24) has been impressive with his ability to impact games rushing the passer, chasing down running plays and making plays when dropping into coverage.

Batten plays with great passion and could be an ideal development prospect with the potential to become a starter. Batten could become a mid-round pick if he performs well at the postseason all-star games against improved competition.

Makes sense to take a late round flyer on him then. Worst case he's a special teamer, best case he contributes on defense.

looks like they have been doing their homework...

I like it. I'd rather take a chance on a player who dominated a lesser level of competition than a player who played tougher competition but didn't separate himself from the rest.

FWIW, CBS projects him as an ILB.

Also, FWIW, he's got better numbers in the 3-cone and shuttle drills than McClain, et al.

Some people find themselves amazed when, every year, LBs go down with injuries and a team falls apart b/c there's crap for depth. LB is a position where depth is EVERYTHING. There will be injuries and your second-tier guys'd better be good b/c the odds are excellent that they will be playing at some point.

Bear in mind that we'll have 4 starters at LB now. That puts an onus on having more LBs in the first place. And after the Jauron years, we need to get bigger at LB and these last couple of picks are a nice hedge if one or two of the DE-to-LB conversions doesn't work out.

Christmas analogy: Spiller was the shiny, new toy and eveything else turned out to be socks and underwear. Everything the Bills have done is for beyond 2010. All projects, works in progress and untapped potential in rounds 2-7. 3 DE's??? Jeez. Good for Batten. Getting drafted by an alleged NFL team has to be a big thrill. South Dakota State was dominant in the Cereal Bowl, the Beef Bowl and on Hobo Day last year. Not kidding. Look at their website. Anyone wants to spin it as a good pick for the Bills, go ahead. Anyone after round 5 is a longshot anyway. Except for Tom Brady. Batten will be among the first cuts in late August.

Lol, a DE from South Dakota State instead of Tony Pike. These rednecks in charge are hilariously out of touch.

What does it say to you that Pike is still available? This is getting hilarious. Just criticize every pick no matter what.
