WOOOOHOOOOO!!!

Best news ever! The tube is out! They had us all leave the room to do it and as I was saying goodbye, he gave me the John Niche smirk and WINKED at me. For the first time I just burst into tears.

This is really great news. All y'all....the prayers are working. Keep 'em coming!

Finally this whole being nice to him looks to have a happy ending.

Woo-Hoo! More Cowbell! :censored:

I'll keep tossing this link in every couple of pages, in case anyone hasn't seen it yet:

And yeah, getting rid of that endotracheal tube is very good news -- plus, it'll be a massive relief for John. They serve their purpose, but they sure aren't much fun.

Yo 'Sphere, keep getting better. Place ain't the same without you ...

I don't know if I metioned it but the last coherent thing I remember John saying Tuesday night was, "I think I need Doctor House". He's addicted to the medical TV shows "House" and "Bones". Babe.....you have no idea. We feel like we've been living an episode. [/i]

The last thing he needed was Dr. House. House would have diagnosed paraneoplastic syndrome, pheochromacytoma, amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, scleroderma, and lupus (even though it's never lupus) before even thinking about bacterial meningitis.

EVEN WOOO HOOOOER!!!

John, awake, alert, and wearing his Bills blanket!

He will start physical therapy tomorrow. Tonight, he had a lovely liquid dinner of broth, popsicles, apple juice, and lemon ice. Solid food is a possibility tomorrow.

There's a cute picture of him in the hospital under his Bills blanket. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/johnniche

Just got back from visiting Beerball!

McKinney Medical Center is about 30 miles from my house, so I made the trip over to see him.

He's improving tremendously, and he has a great wife and daughter.

I did manage to get a quick photo of him, as he is feeling better, but his complexion is still a little green from all that he has been through:
