Things the Bills Should Do starting Today

1. Fire Head Coach and place interim title on some Asst Coach.

2. Continue until Hell Freezes over to try and get a Cowher type head coach with experience at the NFL level and also success. Have him bring in an off coord and def coord and come up with a total approach to drafting players that fit a physical, tough style of play ala the Steelers

3. Look to trade any and all assets we have to help re-assemble this team with bigger players with a mean big defense and offensive strategy.

4. Examples as above: Trade Lynch for #1 pick, Trade Stroud for either #1 or two #2s, Trade Witner for a #2 and anything you could get for any one of our def ends. Dump Rosco and either one of our 2 QBs for 3rd or 4th rounders.

5. With draft choices get One big LT, One big MLB and move Poz to outside, draft big, fast DT like Arthur Jones of Syracuse in 2nd rnd with one of extra picks.

6. Find some cocky QB that is not afraid to throw the ball for 12 to 15 yards downfield.

7. Move Maybin to OLB

8. Hope Ralph lets footbal guy run the show and rebuild us a team that can actually play NFL football.

I think what they need to do is much simpler...they need to identify one guy right now to hire to run football operations. Hire him right away. Fire nobody. Let him start work now on the offseason during the week and he can spend his Sundays and the beginning of the week seeing who on this team is worthy of keeping. That gives a new guy two months to strategize for the draft and offseason, find a coach that fits his team vision, and puts discipline and accountability into the organization. It's clear that we need a real football ops guy in here. Bring him in NOW.

Nice plan but it's not in chronological order. You need to accomplish #8 before #1 can happen. Unless you revamp the organization, you will not even attract quality HC candidates.

And trade Ellison for a 2nd round pick! What world are people living in? Stroud and Lynch for round one picks? Seriously?

I like both guys but you are getting a 3rd or a 4th max for either one!

Also, the biggest thing this team needs is a QB. We need a QB and it fixes 75% of your problems. We have good enough guys as WRs to get the job done. But having 10 3 and outs does not help your team or defense or field position. Get a QB that is great and you have a great team. Not very easy to find that is the problem.

On top of that......Stroud is the type of DT that KEEP on your team.....he does his job and keeps his mouth shut....if anything you BIULD AROUND a player like that. McCargo is GARBAGE and it is showing now that Kyle Williams is out.....what we need to do is put a DT alongside Stroud that is good enough that teams cant double Marcus....do this and all of a sudden teams aren't running through our DL like swiss cheese.......our LB's would be looking a lot better if we were more stout up front......

It doesn't even have to be a big name either. They don't need another Donahoe. Get an assistant GM from one of the good teams, NE, INDY, etc. Get an older guy like Reese who wouldn't break the bank or cause too much of a stir. Just get someone.

You forgot we did good by dumping Magahee, whois not as good as Lynch. Witner was a top 10 pick and still 24, we could find a fool to take him for a 2nd, I would bet. Stroud on wrong side of 30 to build this team. We need 3 to 4 years of re-tooling. With what we have now we will never be good until our good players are too old. Have to scrap almost every available asset to get bigger, younger and also save money as we will just let these guys go elsewhere when their contracts expire anyway. And to th eone about Poz, he was one of fastest ILBs in his draft year. He was like a 4.63 or so 40 speed and played OLB at Penn State a few yrs.

No rebuilding takes 3-4 years with good personnel people in place. Assuming we do get good personnel people to rebuild this thing, Stroud is one of the guys you keep. Besides we gave up a 3rd and 5th for him two years ago...so subtract the two years he's aged and what are you getting back. It's more worth it to keep him.

You could sign the entire organisation over to Bill Cowher, or Dungy and neither are coming here. It isn't about money for alot of the top coaches every wants here. They have nothing left to prove as HC's anymore, the are going to go to a team that fits them the best and allows them to spend more time with family. As for some of the others, if they are really that great, why are they not getting picked up by other teams with coaching needs? Shottenheimer? Shanahan? Why are they getting passed over by co-ordinators with no HC experience?

Don't fully agree but I love the effort here

I would trade some assets but not the ones that possess solid veteran leadership. Keep Stroud because he is actually good and your not going to get two high picks for him. Draft another RB that can catch the football. Hold onto Lynch in the meantime until the other RB is proven then get what you can for him,in the mean time with improvements to the OL he can still be a stud. Trade Poz and Whitner if we can get 3rd round value for them. Let's face it the safeties are making more impact plays without Witner and if you saw todays TD runs by Moats straight up the middle you saw Poz clearly running away from the play as the run was coming through his gap. This is a weekly occurance. Offer Roscoe for a 3rd or 4th rounder.. ...The rest of your points I agree with.

So why do you want to trade a top ten pick who's only 24? Answer probably is becasue he's not that good, which I think other teams have also figured out. Lynch is one mistake away from a year suspension. Magahee also showed more in his last year with the Bill's than Lynch has shown so far. I'm all for trading Lynch, but it's not likely you'll get more than a 4th rounder for him, same with Whitner. If you're OK with getting a 4th rounder or so, then go for it, but don't expect more. I probably would make the trade for either of them for a 4th, I'm just not expecting more than that.

 

You just can't trade players in the NFL for low round draft picks as there's no takers. Teams value picks too much. The only exceptions to that rule is when it involves a player who is still playing very well, but wants out for reasons more about not fitting in. (i..e Cutler, Peters, Branlon Edwards, Magahee)

Well, that, and the fact that Modrak and Guy are still on the Bills payroll.

 

But you are 100% correct. If Ralph looked at the evil Donahoe as the epitome of absolute power corrupting absolutely (which was the correct interpretation), then surely Ralph will be observant enough to see that the antithesis of absolute power- that being power by committee- is equally as terrible in terms of success.

 

Hopefully, Ralph can see that sooner rather than later and fill the front office with a single vision.
