Lindy Ruff: might he have found his team?
PastaJoe replied to Buftex's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I think the Vancouver job is a better option. Better players and he's from western Canada. Plus I wonder if he would move his family with him, which could determine where he'd go. -

Ah yes, the last refuge of those who can't debate the facts; the personal insult. Class act. -
Obama Losing The Washington Post?
PastaJoe replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Osama Bin Laden dead. Eliminated several other Al-Qaeda leaders by focusing military and intelligence assets, including an expanded drone policy. Ended the War in Iraq. Begun the drawdown of forces from Afghanistan. Enacted policies to stop the financial crisis and stabilize and grow the economy. Ended Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT) in our military. Stopped defending DOMA in court. Passed the Hate Crimes bill. Appointed two progressive women to the Supreme Court. Expanded access to medical care and provided subsidies for people who can't afford it. Expanded the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Fixed the preexisting conditions denials in health insurance. Created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Overhauled the credit card industry, making it more consumer-friendly. Effectively mobilized the federal gov't on the BP oil spill, and held the oil industry accountable. Did the same in response to Hurricane Sandy, just ask Gov Christie and Rep King. And many of these accomplishments were done despite having to deal with obstructionist Republicans in Congress. -
Justice Dept. Secretly Grabs AP Phone Records
PastaJoe replied to IDBillzFan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
And a good explanation of how this is being blown out of proportion by the media, and shows the hypocrisy of Republicans who have complained that security leaks need to be more vigorously investigated. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/21/opinion/stop-the-leaks.html?partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&_r=0 "At the time the article was published, there were strong bipartisan calls for the Justice Department to find the leaker. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. gave that assignment to Ronald C. Machen Jr., the United States attorney for the District of Columbia, who is known for his meticulous and dedicated work. Importantly, his assignment was to identify and prosecute the government official who leaked the sensitive information; it was not to conduct an inquiry into the news organization that published it. His office, which has an experienced national security team, undertook a methodical and measured investigation. Did prosecutors immediately seek the reporters’ toll records? No. Did they subpoena the reporters to testify or compel them to turn over their notes? No. Rather, according to the Justice Department’s May 14 letter to The A.P., they first interviewed 550 people, presumably those who knew or might have known about the agent, and scoured the documentary record. But after eight months of intensive effort, it appears that they still could not identify the leaker. It was only then — after pursuing “all reasonable alternative investigative steps,” as required by the department’s regulations — that investigators proposed obtaining telephone toll records (logs of calls made and received) for about 20 phone lines that the leaker might have used in conversations with A.P. journalists. They limited the request to the two months when the leak most likely occurred, and did not propose more intrusive investigative steps." -
You guys still obsessing? He was a good actor, but he passed away over a year ago.

Possible changes coming to Pro Bowl

Make it like the old Superstars show; weightlifting, obstacle courses, sprints, and outrigger canoe races in the ocean. -
What argument did I lose? You're hallucinating.

I never heard of The Doors before I saw the movie Apocalypse Now, but after that I was hooked. One of my favorite bands.

The nature of war in WWII between nations is totally different than the sectartian violence within the colonial borders of countries in the Middle East. You can't compare them. If not for oil and Israel, we would treat the Middle East like we do wars in Africa. It's always been about economics and politics, regardless of political party.

'Gregory Hicks, the No. 2 U.S. diplomat in Libya the night Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed, was to be the star witness for Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the man leading the probe of the Obama administration’s handling of the attack on the diplomatic outpost in Benghazi. But despite Issa’s incautious promise that the hearing’s revelations would be “damaging” to Hillary Rodham Clinton, Hicks didn’t lay a glove on the former secretary of state Wednesday. Hicks was of little use to Republicans in their efforts to connect the lapses in the Benghazi response to Clinton or to the Obama White House. He said that he spoke to Clinton by phone at 2 a.m. that night and that she supported his actions. He undermined one of Issa’s claims — that Clinton had rejected an increase in security for the Libya facilities — when he agreed that the secretary of state’s name appears on all cables, even if she doesn’t write them.' http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/dana-milbank-whistleblowers-yarn-fails-to-tie-benghazi-lapses-to-politics/2013/05/08/fb436cd4-b82e-11e2-b94c-b684dda07add_story.html

So this is the opening salvo for the 2016 election. Blame Hillary and see what sticks. Don't forget that she killed Vince Foster. I'll bet some of you still believe Iraq had WMD and was an imminent threat. You'll believe whatever supports your preconcieved conclusions.

Darcy Regier returning, not being fired
PastaJoe replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Their new slogan is: "Suffering will only cost you 4% more". I can't remember the last time I had more faith in Bills management than Sabres, but I do now. -
Or he is a nudist and the neighbors have complained.

You can't handle the truth. My point has been that as bad as the Bills have been, they need players that can play this year. If and when they need another RB, there will be plenty to choose from.
-
Teams with good QBs and lines can win with any halfway decent RB, or RB by committee. See New England, Green Bay, or Denver as examples. Great RBs don't win without the rest. See Sanders, Simpson, or Peterson.

So is Buddy done after the draft?
PastaJoe replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gms pick the coaches. If they pick the coach's preferences, and the coach and players don't succeed, it ultimately is the GM's fault. So the GM should get fired with the coach. Unfortunately you can't fire the owner who picked the GM. -
Teams keep trying to pick him, but they spelled his name on the cards as Derrick or Derik or The Rick, and they end up with another guy.

I just hope they don't waste roster spots again on multiple kickers. Pick one and live with him. -

Nix gets the blame because he didn't lose his job along with the coaches who did. GMs trump coaches when it comes to picking players. Just like Darcy Regier is to blame for the Sabres woes. -
Remind me what round Fred Jackson, the guy you all want a replacement for, was drafted in.
