  1. Buddy was on the Bills at that time as a talent scout when Maybin was drafted. Let's take a look at some other draft gems: http://en.wikipedia....lo_Bills_season 2nd rd pick Torell Troup: Hasn't made an impact, and has been hurt for most of his career in the NFL to date. I do feel for the kid and hope he can recover. 4th rd pick Marcus Easley: Hasn't made an impact, and has been hurt for most of his career in the NFL to date. 5th rd pick Ed Wang: Cut 6th rd pick Danny Batten: Cut 7th rd pick Levi Brown: Cut 7th rd pick Kyle Calloway: Cut before preseason that year 2011 draft class 2nd round pick Aaron Williams: While his career is still young, he's one of the worst CB's in the league 5th round pick Johnny White: Is he still even on the team? (not being sarcastic) 6th round pick Chris White: same thing 7th round pick Michael Jasper: cut 2012 draft class 5th Round (144th Overall) – Zebrie Sanders (OT, Florida State): IR 5th Round (147th Overall) – Tank Carder (LB, TCU): Cut, playing on the Browns 6th Round (178th Overall) – Mark Asper (OG, Oregon): Cut 7th Round (251st Overall) – John Potter (K, Western Michigan): Cut for Lindell (who gailey was afraid of letting him kick a 50 yard FG in a dome). How about signing Cornell Green as a RT, yeah that was a great move. I used to think Jauron did a good job of getting the most out of his players, as the Bills led the league in injuries. I'm done thinking this team is getting closer, when they're not. Mismanagement has been a problem, as well as getting a franchise QB. The Bills haven't made the playoffs in 13 years for numerous reasons. Until the Bills start beating upper echelon teams like the Patriots, Texans, 49ers, Ravens, Broncos, Falcons, etc... then you can't say they're getting closer. Losing close to top teams is still the same result, it's a loss. You don't get points or move up in the standings for losing close games.
  2. Yep, the Bills have been great at talent evaluation since 2000. That Maybin guy sure had a fast first step, didn't he? And how about that Mike Williams fellow, big guy from Texas, great Left Tackle in the league. Shall I continue...
  3. Thank you! But after 13 years of missing the playoffs, we're supposed to be wearing rose-colored glasses and continue to drink the kool-aid
  4. Actually, the Bills ran a hybrid 3-4 defense, using the 4-3 about 40-45% of the time. We saw Moats have good production at OLB towards the end of the 2010 season (I believe), and earned recognition for ending Favre's Iron Man streak. I had no problem with Moats as an OLB, but the continuous switching back and forth from OLB to ILB was mind boggling. Moats is not an ILB, and did not do well at ILB. In a 3-4 defense, OLB are known to rush the passer, in a 4-3, OLB's are known for stopping the run and going out in coverage. Moats is good at rushing the passer, not playing out in coverage. Once, the Bills officially went back to a 4-3, they should have tried Moats out at both DE and OLB to see which one he did better at, that's poor evaluation on the Bills part. The same with putting Carrington & Spencer Johnson, two 300+ defensive linemen in at OLB. That made absolutely no sense at all! How do you actually expect two guys, the sizes of Carrington & Sp Johnson to go out in coverage?! Explain that one!!
  5. I don't always focus on the negatives. I gave props to Fitz yesterday for having 3 consecutive seasons of passing 20TD's (first since Jim Kelly) and was bashed for it. Back to the subject at hand, if a player is better at one position than another, then you should put that player in the position that he does better at, that way the team benefits from it. Trying to fit a square peg into a round hole does not work, It's not rocket science.
  6. Arthur Moats was a DE in college. Since he's been on the Bills, he's been shuffled all over the field and back again, from ILB to OLB to DE and back and forth numerous times. Moats is back at DE and is earning praise again from Gailey: "In recent weeks, he's moved back to his original position in the NFL -- DE, which is also where he played in college -- and he's given the Bills' injured defensive line a boost with limited reps. “We've been a little thin at defensive end and to give those guys a blow,” Gailey said. “And to be honest, the first time he went in there two weeks ago, he pushed the tackle right back into the quarterback and we remember what he did do when he was playing defensive end. It makes you remember those things, he's been at linebacker so long. So he's been a good change of pace to give us a little rest and give a little pressure to the quarterback.” http://www.cbssports.com/general/blog/nfl-rapidreports/21294920/bills-notebook-surgery-likely-for-rt-chris-hairston Also, look at last year when Alex Carrington & Spencer Johnson were playing at OLB. Two 300+lb D-linemen playing OLB? WTF were they thinking?! Carrington is having a break out year this year (so far) at defensive tackle and had his best game to date this past Sunday. Aaron Williams is another player that draft experts said would be a safety in the NFL, but yet the Bills put him in at CB. AW has been terrible at CB for the Bills this year.
  7. Thank you! If anyone thinks the Bills will be drafting an immediate starting QB next year is out of their mind. Expect to see Fitz have some competition in training camp, but he will be the Bills starting QB come Week 1. With having two stellar RB's, Fitz should only be throwing the ball 20-25 times a game (or less). I put that squarely on Gailey's shoulders. I agree 100% Like I stated before, Fitz would be an above average backup, but he is a below average starting QB as his inconsistencies and costly turnovers make him such.
  8. Exactly. How many times with those QB's mentioned did we see the Bills offense score 10 to 13 points a game. Also, the Bills didn't have a QB that threw for over 300 yards in a game for numerous years until Fitz broke that streak.
  9. Nobody is arguing the fact that Fitz is inconsistent & his win loss record stinks. I stated my feelings about Fitz & why the Bills need a franchise QB in the initial post so I'm not going to rehash what I stated in the first place. I was giving Fitz & Gailey just a little bit of credit. There have been times over the past 3 years where the offense has been exciting, compared to the abysmal pop-Warner style offense Jauron used. I wouldn't mind if Fitz was our backup, just not our starting QB. Guess no one can give props to anyone around here if they're not a probowl player?! For how long did we hear people ranting & raving about Spiller being a bust, and all the Mario bashing earlier in the season.
  10. Mularkey & Gailey have been the only Bills coaches that had offenses that weren't tanked in the bottom of the league every year since the 90's. Jauron's offenses were offensive!!
  11. Kyle Orton is a possibility. Another guy is Matt Moore. I'm surprised neither one have been given a shot somewhere to be a starting QB.
  12. I agree with your assessment. Fitz is not the worst QB in the league, nor is he an elite QB. I feel Fitz's biggest problem is his consistency.
  13. Down to our 3rd RT. First it was Kelsay this week, now Hairston. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY0WxgSXdEE
  14. Since Jim Kelly retired, the Bills have not had a QB to throw for 20 TD's in consecutive seasons. Now, Fitz has done it in three consecutive seasons: 2010 - 23 TD's; 2011 - 24 TD's; 2012 - 20 TD's (with four games remaining). Like many others on here, I have been critical of Fitz's play over the course of the season. I still feel the Bills need to address the QB position in the offseason. I agree with Nix that the team was devoid of talent when he took over as GM and they needed to plug in a ton of holes on the team. I get the philosophy that you don't want to get a rookie and put him behind a bad O-line with sub-par receivers, as this could wreck the guys confidence. But I still feel that he should have taken a developmental QB sooner, such as Dalton or Kaepernick. It's either Nix & Gailey were banking on Fitz to succeed or they wanted to build up a good team first, then draft a QB to come in. I'm leaning towards Nix & Gailey banking on Fitz. Either way, congrats to Fitz for this accomplishment. I feel Fitz would be an above average backup QB in the league, but as a full time starter, so far he's been below average.
  15. Just received a text from the Bills that they placed RT Chris Hairston on IR. The injuries to this team never cease year after year.
  16. Agreed. With Aaron Williams out of the lineup, the secondary isn't getting torched big time like it was when AW was starting opposite Gilmore. Speaking of Gilmore, he is getting better each week. I would love to see Brooks develop as well. IMO, Gilmore & Brooks have the potential to be a great pair of shutdown corners (similar to Revis & Cromartie).
  17.
  18. First off, the chances of the Bills making the playoffs are slim and none, with slim having his bags packed getting ready to leave town. With that being said, the Bills need to give players like Brooks and Easley time on the field to get some experience and to see what they got before going into the offseason. When Freddie went down to injury last year, Spiller was thrown into the starting lineup and the rest is history. After seeing Brooks play yesterday, I have more confidence in him than I do Aaron Williams. I hope AW gets a shot at playing safety, because he does not look good at all at CB. If Brooks and Easley can show some development from now to the end of the season, then that's 2 less positions to worry about in the offseason.
  19. That would be great. I hope Wood doesn't have a serious injury.
  20. What did we do to deserve such punishment?!
  21. His leg was immobilized. Early reports don't look good.
  22. Carrington played very well today, as did Easley. Hopefully we will see more of both players.
  23. Damn!!! I like Wood and I feel the O-line is much better when he is in there, but it's seems like he can't catch a break in regards to getting injured.
  24. I think SJ, Wood, Hairston & McKelvin all left the game today. Anyone word on their injuries today?
