Nic Harris put 10 lbs of muscle on over the offseason

Let's hope they don't test him for roids... -
No fan of Brohm here either, but reading is bloody important. Such a shame he throws so many interceptions, maybe if he gets that in check he'll work out as the promise he once was. On the other hand if Trent relearns to read again instead of feeling rushed all the time he may beocme the man. Fitz needs to improve his accuracy big time. Combine the three and you are left with one hell of a quarterback (positve or negative depending on what you mix).

Some interesting player observations from OTAs
bladiebla replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ML didnt show up. CB said; the only new notable absentee is Shawn Nelson for today. I.e. situation unchanged from previous OTA's plus Shawn Nelson. -
why is CJ any better than reggie bush?

Just wait untill Lynch takes him out to teach him the ways of the NFL off the field... :/ -
Hardy may have appeared in less games but he certainly spend more time on the field when he did. For me; Johnson looks like a shrub trying to catch every sunbeam he possible can and even those he cant reach, whilst Hardy just tries to be the tallest tree in the wood. For some reason Steve looks more dynamic, more thrilling, more something is about to happen, whereas with Hardy I feel more like praying he'll hold on or won't fumble it away. If it's fair? I dont know. Does it have to do with draft positions? For me no. Expectations? Maybe yes, expected the world from Hardy and fully expected Johnson to be cut. Maybe it just does come down to draft position and underdog then. I dunno.

Article about Demetrius Bell

Interesting and good read. Also interesting to read that Bell doesn't see himself as a viable starter yet either (1 quarter up the ladder). -
NFL preparing to use replacement players
bladiebla replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too expensive is relative... The cost per season was 2 third of Goodell his yearly salary without bonusses. Besides the final season showed an increase of 20% spectators (averiging 22k per game). Avarage attendance per game was 22k in the final season, Amsterdam the only non german team had 15k av. (and a horrible season). 15k for european standards is a lot, only 3 soccer teams drew more. Agreed, I even go as far as saying that a true world league based on that principle would draw crowds. However there would be a lot of cost involved. Calculate a 2 million loss per team and you are talking 64 million a year (NFL Europe was costing 10 mil a season). Maybe the format would draw in enough television rights to cover that though (the issue with NFL Europe was hardly no income from television rights). Increased interest for merchandising could be covering that as well. 32 teams is a lot of players though. -
Bills Players at McFaddens (NYC) this Friday:

Don't forget to bring your 20 dollar bills with you! Edit: should make a huge 20 dollar bill banner and hang it behind the endzones... That will get Marshawn fired up... -
If we just play smart and don't loose the football so much we'd be in much better shape. - Dick Jauron Edit: just watched vid, he's sure going for the coach Maybe title... :/

NFL preparing to use replacement players
bladiebla replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This has nothing to do with replacements; it has to do with two things: 1. Spreading risks, if for some reason the UFL does become huge and wins the TV deals the NFL wont be without their much valued dollars. NFL had or has shares in Arena and CFL as well. 2. The NFL realises that it has lost a lot with the closure of of NFL Europe in the sense of try-out, repositioning and quality control player wise but also coaching, staffinf and referee wise as well as trial grounds for new rules. Expect the UFL to be expanding and deals with teams or the league as a whole to be reborn similar to NFL Europe. Now if they only just would move it back to Europe where there is a fanbase which is at least 4 times larger then the current UFL fanbase... -
Hehehe my bad guys... post fixed...

I'm looking to upgrade the drives... anyone want to chime in?
bladiebla replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Raid 10 does great with databases, have been doing that for about 12 years now and dont spec anything else anymore (unless I may spec ramsan or nas). Remember: more spindels = more performance (so if price wise it works out the same getting 6 smaller disks then get those). -
Funy enough I was just thinking about how we manage to grab so much talent time and time again in the lower rounds. Seems scouting is doing a great job there.

Just to be clear you are putting words into my mouth. You should have known better to judge me as such. I'm not basing anything on the GB fans. I do 3 things: 1. ask what people see in his college vid that they are so keen on and then explain what I see in that vid. 2. assess what all GB fans said in that thread if I leave the college noise out. 3. stated a random first round QB people raved about for no reason other then where he was picked. Have I seen Brohm? Yes, indeed I have. I've seen some (cant remember how many) of his 2008 pre-season reps and all of his 2009 pre-season reps. I have a big fascination with pre-season games and second to third stringers, simply because that's where a lot of the former NFL Europe guys swarm. What he showed in GB was how to get off the field as soon as possible. He stunk. His best NFL game was the game he started for us. Clear enough? No? He STUNK! Does that mean he can't develop into a good QB? No, not at all, but I'm not running to the bookies.

So How Many BCS Championships Did Georgia Tech Win?

Last years o-line coach (>2009) was a miracle worker. The o-line coach (<2008) before him sucked hardcore. -
There is no QB competition as most think of one.
bladiebla replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Saying stuff and NFL politics are two entirely different things. A QB competition boils down to how the OP described it. -

bladiebla replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's either: Trent Edwards - Starting QB Levi Brown - Backup QB Brian Brohm - Third QB or Levi Brown - Starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick - Backup QB Brian Brohm - Third QB It stands and falls with Gaileys ability to reinstall TE his faith in his game, getting him back to pre-concussion state. If they fail that then they'll switch to Brown and cut ties with TE all together. They've allready said they'd see this year as a rebuild year so it makes sense to invest in a future QB. Brown will outperform Brohm hands down (what Brohm needs is a year in NFL Europe, but heh). It's all about the mysterious upside. Fitz has none, he is what he is, a career backup. TE has plenty but has lost his way after the first concussion. Brohm has political upside at least for a full year to come, gamewise we don't know. Brown is the coach his darling so to speak (having drafted him), so he's safe. Ps. the only way the curse goes is if OJ gets off the wall... -
Honestly what is it that you guys see that you like there? I see a slow QB with a very singular vision, hitting predefined routes on wide open receivers who in turn receive hardly any pressure (yes there are a few exceptions in the vid, few). Makes one a college hero but a NFL bum imho. If you read the GB post and filter out the college hero stuff you are left with an awfull QB per GB fan perspective. Akili Smith anyone?
