That's exactly what I was thinking...The message is pretty clear... He took the long route through Minnesota and J-Ville to get there...But congrats to Asper for finally making that Draft pick pay off...

Is Marcus Easley this teams version of Steve Tasker?
KOKBILLS replied to VirginiaMike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just have a gut feeling that given the opportunity, especially over Hogan, Easley is going to come up big... But my gut has been wrong before... -
Well of course they were...And I was not saying the Bills would win either...Simply saying that beating a team like New Orleans would give this team a boost like no other...

Fair enough...

I wanted them to kick the FG there as well...I just wanted some points at that time...But given the time to reflect I think it was the right call to go for it, but I simply did not like the play call...That was a 2nd or 3rd down play...Not a 4th...You don't try to get cute when you only have one more chance...Cincy's strength is definitely their D-Line...I would have liked to see the Bills try to get CJ to the pylon there...Stack it up in the middle and let him run to the pylon...Or maybe a naked bootleg...Something to occupy Cincy's best players and try to beat them on the perimeter...Or at the very least if you're going to call a roll out, sneak the TE out the opposite way and throw back...It seems like that play always works...But that's just me...

I think when you look at Miami for instance they are a year ahead of the Bills in building...And they're 3-2...The Bills are young at positions all over the field, and they've been in every game...But I think this is the way things will go for the rest of the year...They'll win a few they're not supposed to, and they'll lose a few they should have won...No matter though, generally I like what I'm seeing...I was ultra impressed that they came back in the 4th quarter of that game yesterday...They were beaten down and outplayed for the better part of three quarters, but not only did they refuse to quit, they actually executed and tied it up...I was floored when Lewis hit Goodwin with that pass...Just shocked...And even though the result could be viewed as the same old Bills, they showed me that's not the case yesterday... Thurman was on the radio last week and said teams need to win that one big game vs an opponent they are definitely supposed to lose to in order to really turn the corner...I don't think any team coming to the Ralph is going to be a big favorite the rest of the year...So I'm going to ignore those games...They're all winnable, including vs Atlanta in Toronto...Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Bills will win all those games, but they'll have a chance to beat any of those teams...And I'll go out on a limb right now and say I expect the Bills to beat KC at Home...I really do...They'll be up for that game and so will the crowd...So to me at least, if the Bills were going to turn it around this year there's really only one game that will catapult their confidence into a new stratosphere...Of course I'm talking about at New Orleans...If the Bills win that game I think they have figured it out and they'll go on a major run...If not it's going to be a win here and there, and some tough, close, losses...And they'll have to wait till next year to get that truly defining victory that officially turns the corner for this Franchise...

Well...We also have a ton of Preseason play at WR to go off of. And there is absolutely no question Easley looked better than Hogan in Preseason...Yes it's just Preseason and blah, blah, blah...Some guys are just gamers, and some are not...Hogan is obviously an incredible practice player who is smart and instinctive...In practice...Easley is basically a prototype athlete for an NFL WR who has a ton of potential, but probably does not practice as well...So...There you go...
-
To the uninformed naked eye it seems like an absolute no-brainer that Easley should be in over Hogan... It's virtually impossible for me to believe that Hogan's practices are THAT good...But they must be...Because on game days Easley looks like a potential stud, and Hogan looks like just another guy...

The defense and the supposed depth at WR
KOKBILLS replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True...I'm still finding it hard to believe Hogan is a better option than Easley at WR...REAL hard to believe...I think you're hitting on something important here though...I think there is a strong possibility that Hogan is an incredible practice player and earns his time that way...Maybe Easley is one of these guys that plays better than he practices...Maybe not...But I do think he's got potential that Hogan has zero chance to reach... And as far as Rogers...He has managed to stick with the Colts PS this long...They even elevated him for a game...I have to believe the kid at least has a chance to reach his potential...And I do think that potential is better than Hogan's...But we'll see I guess...Easy for me to say... -
The defense and the supposed depth at WR
KOKBILLS replied to bills44's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the way this season has gone so far it furthers the argument for those of us that wanted to keep Rogers over Hogan...I realize Rogers has some serious work to do in order to reach his potential, but Hogan gives you next to nothing and his ceiling is greatly limited...This is a very young team that is going to grow together and make a lot of mistakes along the way...I still don't see what the harm would have been to include Rogers in that process...But what do I know... -

At the rate that PI's are called in the NFL that one was truly an amazing no-call...I could see if guys were getting away with stuff like that all the time around the league, but actually it's the exact opposite...Figures though... -

So true...We've been losing games like this for years now...Nothing has really changed in that regard...We make just enough plays to keep it interesting...But in the end this was a VERY winnable game that saw mistakes and lack of execution at times, by all three phases, lead to the inevitable loss...It's always something, and it's never the same thing...The only thing that is consistent is that we're a losing franchise that can't get over the hump... -

That Goodwin no-call was about as blatant PI as you're going to get...I still don't understand that one... -

That goal-line stop by Cincy ended up being the difference...I still would have liked to see Marrone just take the points there, but the truth is we could not punch it in when we needed to...That was a HUGE swing in the game and the Bills did not wake up from it till the 4th Quarter... -

Proud of the way this team came back...No question I want them to win this game...But no matter what they showed me a lot in that 4th quarter...I think they overcame some poor play calling by Hackett too...I think if they had tried to run a little on the second to last drive they could have actually won this game in regulation, which would have been amazing to even think about... -

We were gashing them with runs early in the game, and Hackett decides to put it all on the QB with plenty of time left in the 4th Quarter only down a TD? I don't get him at all...I really don't get that kid... Well...At least the D has done it's job the last 2 drives... -

That no-call on the Pacman/Goodwin play was brutal...When you consider what is called as PI in this league every week with extreme regularity that was a HUGE no-call... -

Freddie made a statement this week that this was not the same old Bills team...I wonder if he wants to take that comment back after this performance?
